My friend (Clayton)bought 4 JL Audio W0's 12 in.and had a 750.2 RockfordFosgate Amp. thats like 375 watts to each sub right. So the boss man I work with doing car audio installs and me start clayton's install. We get everything hooked up and that Fosgate amp was not pushing the 4 12s worth a ****. So the bossman suggest a 600.1 Kicker amp. Me and clayton are kinda just like yeh whatever that amp is going to POP on them subs. Suprisingly we hooked it up and All 4 of them 12's were bumping so HARD the rear view mirror fell off. Crazy? It is the loudest stereo in my high school and almost the loudest in town. it is hard to believe 600 watts pushes all 4 subs with ease. Believe it or not it is loud as hell.

And i got a 200 watt pushing my 2124s and it is bumping like crazy...

haha, just thought I would share a story... people need to get these underratted amps some more respect. all these rednecks in my town think just cause they got a durabrand 3,000 watt they are going to be pushing 3,000 watts on their stereo... yeh right!

i'm glad you liked the install, but a few things jumped out at me:
    1) Clayton??
    2) 375 each? wrong. if that amp were 1 ohm stable, which it likely is not, and even if that 750.2 refers to 750Wx2@4 Ohms, which it almost certainly does not, you'd get 750 to each sub. more likely, it is referring to 750Wx1@4 Ohms (bridged), because that's how RF names their amps, and to power 4 4-ohm subs with that, you'd be getting 187.5W to each. and that assumes it's capable of full 2-ohm power output, which many are not, so call that 150 to each sub.

if you're pushing the kicker down to 1 ohm, you could get almost twice that per sub (note, however, that the w0 warranty is VOID if you power them above 250W apiece). if you're running 8-ohm subs, everything's the same, just at half power. it is also very possible that the kicker is underrated, it happens a lot, in which case you could be seriously voiding that warranty...

Im assuming those are 8 ohms subs as you would be blowing amps if you were trying to run 2 pair of 4 ohm subs.

There must have been something wrong with that RF amp cause Rockford Fosgate amps are pretty underrated. Ive never seen a test on one where it didnt put out waaay more power than its rated at. Kicker on the other hand, while putting out more than its rating is usually by a smaller margin.

Dont sell those RF's short, they pack a wallop.

well, what the rumor is, when Fosgate got bought by AcDelco or what ever they just dont push they way the old punch amps do.. I mean my dad has a punch 50.2 pushing the hell outa 2 punch 10s... I heard they are just going overrated. Another kid in my school has a 2300watt Fosgate amp on the same subs my friend has 4 JL 12in. W0s and My friend has Him beat by far with his 600. Fosgate still makes some bad **** subs. I just dont know about their amps .. they let me down :(

i got bored... it was just people bickering about what made the old amps better than the new, interspersed with a couple random questions...

maybe it gets better after the first page?

No dipstick! You need to click the link in the first post. It is a link to comparisons between old school Punch amps and modern Punch amps. The new Punch amps exceed their rated power by tons as well plus they have more features. In other words, the new Punch amps are better than the old ones.

Back in the early 90's, the Rockford Fosgate Punch amps were about the top of the heap.

Those were the days. RF, Phoenix Gold, and Orion were the tallest hogs at the trough.

yep, I used my little Punch 60 to push two 12's for years. Kicker subwoofers were rock solid in the late 80's/early 90's too.

LOL! That was back when all they made was subs.

I remember the Kicker demo car had PPI amps. Not a whole lot of one trick manufacturers out there these days.

My Kicker amps are from the late 90's. I bought my four channel ZX460 around 1997, how is that for longevity :) . It is supposed to push 30 watts RMS per channel and 120 watts bridged. It does 214 watts RMS bridged. This was back when they had the whole cheater amp thing.

I had a Kicker KX600.1 paired with one S12L7. For having one 12" sub in a .88 cubic foot enclosure, this combo was pretty impressive in output . I went down in power because did not want to kill my 10" Soundplinter RL-i sub.
