Ok I am thinking about getting a mono pioneer 800 peak power amp which gives out 250 RMS watts X 1. I have a polk/momo sub that can take 800 watts peak and 400 RMS watts. Is this a good amp for this sub? It seems just perfect.........am I right or wrong........I just want some advice !!!!!!! I think it sounds like a good plan?????????

Advice:
1) only one punctuation mark is necessary, unless it's an ellipsis (...)
2) again, peak power ratings are worthless.
the 250-watt amp you're looking at is a bit underpowered for the 400-watt sub you have. find one that's 300-400 watts and you'll be happier. i have the feeling your sub will be, too. It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon

Agreed.
Try to get an amp that matches the subs power handling as closely as possible.
You dont want to underpower it as it wont perform properly and you dont want to overpower it as it wont perform with the suspension ripped out either.
350-400 is where ya need to be aiming.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Listen to these guys, they are right.
Believe it or not, most speakers are fried due to underpowering them. People turn up the volume to the point where their amp distorts and clips (asking the amp to push more than it can), and then the voice coil(s) get fried.Alpine: CDA-7949
