Hey, I just had a quick question, It seems as tho I've seen two different subs. Ive seen ones with the red and black polk/momo logo and then some others have a yellow arrow logo. Are the yellow ones just new or what? I just ordered two mm2104s about a week ago, do you think these will be the black and red or the yellow ones?

Thanks a lot

those are the black and red ones...the yellow ones are the mm12, mm124, mm10, or mm104

From looking at subs on Polk's site, I think the ones with the yellow logo are the old ones. When I look at the subs, it only shows ones with the red & black logo; however, when I click to look at older models, it then shows some subs that have the yellow logo. This is a bummer, as I like the yellow logo MUCH better....

Oh, and.......are there any differences performance/construction wise between subs with the different logos? Or is the difference mainly the logo?

O, I see thanks a lot. I have to say that I like the yellow better as well. No big deal I guess the black/red looks pretty badass as well IMO.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read and respond.

    Really? I didnt know that.

Kind of stupid if true. Whats the point of being partnered with Momo if they dont want you using their logo?

i don't seem to remember that.

but the yellow mm104 or mm124 is a higher-power version of the ones they offer now. quite a few had problems, so if you're looking into this line, make sure you don't overpower them. they'll handle their rated power very well, and sound damn good doing it, but they do NOT like more than that.

they used to be my first choice for subs.

    What is now?

And, to clarity, were you saying the older ones with the yellow logos don't like overpowering? Or the newer ones?

yes. both dislike overpowering; the older ones seemed more rabidly allergic to it than the current ones, though.

and now, my first choice wavers amongst alpine's type-x, eclipse's aluminium, and diamond's d9.

Okay. Ive seen this elsewhere and dont have a clue what it is. What does [sic] mean?:confused:

The new Momo subs are much sturdier. I dont recall too many, if any complaints coming across here of fried baby Momos.

As far as the new look goes, I like it much better than the old. It looks a lot classier and less ricer.

The Polks are still one of my favorite subs. Id love to have on myself but the 10's require like 30 cubic feet of volume so I may not be able to.

Ive decided tho, if I cant make a .66 box Ill go with the .33 and get the MM2084. Itll be getting nearly double its rated power but we'll see how it does.

Just curious, about what does the Alpine Type-X cost? I guess the 8" sub, as I *think* that's what I'd be interested in.

[sic] indicates that you're aware of an error in a quote, but you've left it in to preserve the quote's integrity.

the 10" type-x is $400, compared to the type-r's $180 (both crotchfield, and they don't have the 8). big jump.

Ouch. I wanted something nicer than Alpine, anyways. Momo stuff isn't that expensive, is it? If it is, it's no more, right? Much better, I'm sure.

well, the 2104 goes for $120 on crotchfield; it's comparable to the type-r, except the type-r is focused slightly more towards spl.

type-r was alpine's totl sub for at least a little while, in the same way that the MMxxxx series is polk's totl for now. they're relatively evenly-matched... i give the type-r a vaguely looser sound but one that's a bit louder than the MMxxxx.

Not too long ago I was asking about subs, and the consensus here was that Alpine's subs were 'one-note subs'. What happened? They're better now?

Right. The Type R's are more 1 note subs but they still sound good. The Type X is a flat out SQ sub and a very good one from what Ive read. Ive only heard the old models and they do sound pretty sweet.
