I am constantly having to call XM to refresh my tuner. Approximately every other day when I go back to listen to XM the tuner is on CHannel 1 and tells me to sign up for XM radio. XM Radio tells me its my signal strenght but I have 3 out of 4 bars.

I was using the Delphi unit prior to my purchase of the Polk tuner and never had this problem. This is my second Polk tuner and they both did the same thing. Do I really need 4 out of 4 bars to keep my tuner from losing its registration?

Thanks for the help/suggestions.

Sounds like it may be a powerdown problem. Are you uplugging it, or using a switch to turn it off. I am not really familiar with the new tuners but can't believe that it is a reception issue.

I don't get that. I only get 3 bars, and fully power down my XRt daily. Never any problems. Talk to Polk CS again.

The unit is rarely powered down. It is hooked into my Niles home audio distribution system and I have yet to reprogram the Niles so it is leaving the unit on at all times

Thanks for the help so far.

Here's some "official" information that may address your problem - check your serial number against this:

    1. We are aware of a small number of installation situations where the XRt12 tuner will lose its activation with the XM broadcast signal. This can occur by having the tuner installed so that it remains powered on continuously. If the tuner is not powered on and off within a 24 hour period activation loss may occur.
    2. In order to restore the activation all that has to be done is to turn the power off and then on again, the XM activation will resume. There isn't a need to contact XM Satellite radio for re-activation, only cycle the unit's AC power. If this does not resolve the problem, please verify your subscription with XM. If your subscription is still active and the tuner does not respond to the power cycle then please contact Polk Audio Customer service at 1-800-377-POLK.
    3. There are two ways to prevent the problem in custom installations. One is to provide some type of on/off cycling, using the available 12 Volt off/on trigger, for example (see page 6 of Polk's Custom Installation Guide). Another approach is to use an external AC timer that could be installed, as part of the whole house system, that would, at an appropriate time turn the tuner briefly off and on.
    4. The tuner can be exchanged, via the appropriate channel, for a version that has modified software to correct this problem. XRt12 tuners with a serial number greater than 40,000 (last five digits of the AM8805xxxxx serial number) will have the modified software.

This information is from the Installers' website. (As an XM Dealer I qualify...)

If you need help on the 12V Trigger, let me know.
