Subwoofer hook up

I am new to the club. I just purchased two RTi10 fronts and a PSW505 sub yesterday. I am running a Sony DA50ES receiver. I am wondering how I should connect the sub. The receiver has two sub-woofer pre-outs. The PSW505 has both a L and R input as well as a LFE in. Both ways seem to be working. The Sony manual says to connect to the Active woofer audio in. It doesn't give any more information. Which inputs should I be using on the sub?
Thanks!
Thanks!

After doing a bunch of reading today, (on this Forum, the Polk website and some other HT web sites), I think that I may know the answer. My Sony DA50ES receiver has pre-out front L and R jacks. I have connected these to the L & R (filtered) inputs on the PSW505 subwoofer. I have set the subwoofer on the receiver to off. This will allow the subwoofer to control the filtering without the receiver getting in the way. I have set the RTi10's to large. The sound is quite amazing.pfabulus

Welcome to CP,
Yep that will work. The roll off of the Polks is probably 4th order though, and the crossover on the sub is likely 2nd order.
My personal preference is to always use the receiver's bass management for HT. Try it both ways and see what you prefer. You can run a cable from one of the sub outs on the Sony to LFE input on the sub. -
Graham,
Not following your Polk roll-off comment since he's running his 10's set to large...
pfabulus,
Welcome to the Club (you too, Graham). Nice choice on the 10's... my favorite in the RTi line.
Agree with Grahams' suggestion. Try letting the ES manage your bass sending the deep stuff to te 505 for movies, but letting the 10's do all the work for music.
In the end it's all personal preference, but give it a shot.More later,
Tour...

Hi Tour,
I just changed my screen name, I'm gatemplin.
The Polks are ported, and ported speakers roll off at 24 dB per octave below tuning (vs 12 dB per in the BM or sub low pass). And since the sub and speakers are overlapping, he may have some funkiness where the two are crossed. By using equal slopes in the BM he may have a more smooth transistion.
