I know the M-1.5t well... and like it. Look for one with a serial number >10,000 as it was the last and best version. $500 is pretty high for a 1.5... more like $350 would be right.

Don't know the Hafler 225, but do know the DH-220. The vintage 220 is a great little amp. If the 225 is close performance-wise, $100 would be a steal.

Not sure about the combination across the front stage... might work.

thanks for the reply...I knew about the serial # has to be > 10000, my question now is should i buy if the serial is the earlier model and not > 10000. The carver is $275 each, $500 a pair.

< 10,000 would be fine. The over 10k ones are just sweeter sounding... a little more refined.

At $500 a pair you'd easily get your money back out of them reselling. So there's no downside I can see to trying them.

You certainly don't need a pair to bi-amp your 70's, but WTH...

Can't really comment on the 555, but want to say I've read here that the 555 is not the Adcom to own...

Do a search on "*555*" and you'll turn up some discussions on it vs. other Adcoms.

    Thanks.....
I got my CARVER1.5t........but I haven't got the chance to tweak them yet........I will this week and I'll post my updates.......Have your heard of SRS KLAYMAN Speakers (Planar)? It's not a polk brand but it suppose to be a highend type speakers? I've done my research but so far no help online. Also, you mention that hafler might not work with Carver, what about B&K?

Never heard of Klayman... You might ask in a new thread in the "speaker" section...

So what are the serial numbers of your 1.5t's?

On the Hafler, you may have understood me, but just to be sure...
What I was questioning was whether the Hafler would tonally work with the Carver. Same would stand true for the B&K... maybe moreso as they are pretty sweet sounding amps... Also can be differences in relative gain, etc... Then again, depending on your speakers, you might not notice a difference.

I lean towards the same amp manf. for HT. A Carver you might consider bridging for a center would be the M-200t (350 W bridged). Decent ones go in the $150 to $160 range on ebay.

What is your front stage speaker line-up?

Cool........is this the same with PARASOUND HCA-1000A with the Carver. This parasound is about $295 online used. Is it worth getting it? The objective is to use it as mono 400w for my center.

    Frontstage:
    With Carver 1.5t
2 Rti 70 // with 2 Rti100, may separate low end for separate bass since my receiver has 2 sub outs. Polk doesn't recommend it this way. What do you suggest.

    With Parasound HCA1000a
    CSi300 bi wired

    Would this be okay?

Actually your CSi300 would be bi-amped.

I've probably got you overly concerned about amp differences here. Differences exist, but they aren't that great.

Parasound has numerous followers 'round here. It's be a good choice.
