In the April 2002 issue of Stereophile, pg 69 has a photo of "Al Ballard" accepting the 2001 Stereophile Budget Spkr of the Yr Award for the RT25i. Stereophile can get on my nerves, since most of the time they seem to think that life isn't worth living unless you have cables that cost a month's rent per meter, but sometimes they give kudos to lower-priced products.
Also, the current online version of Stereophile has a wonderfully nasty-yet-lighthearted piece that manages to combine the topics of implanting microchips in humans & CD copying restrictions.

Speaking of Stereophile...
They've got a pretty good deal going right now: $11.97 for a year.
I will probably re-subscribe now after a 10-year hiatus. I used to enjoy them (mostly). I guess the Internet has driven magazine prices way down. That's a good thing.

i wish stereophile mag would change to give the guy that cant afford the high price stuff a litte more imformation on the budget stuff that we can afford, a lot of times the the lower price equipment is just as good or some times better than the tweeked out high price crap. i read stereophile mags for 10 yrs.and there was a lot of hipe in them. thats why there are a lot of two channel guys still hanging on to the tweek over price crap. they are brain warshed. i know i was to.. rt-7 mains
rt-20p surounds
cs-400i front center
cs-350 ls rear center
2 energy take 5, efects
2- psw-650 , subs
1- 15" audiosource sub
lets all go to the next ces. -

Stereophile is a magazine for a person who's really into stereo equipment; it's their hobby, if not their obsession. A person like that really doesn't want to read about common, inexpensive equipment. They've gotten past that point in their hobby long ago. They want to hear about the high tech, exotic equipment. Still, I think Stereophile does a nice job of reviewing affordable equipment. I've seen plenty of reviews of sub-$2000 speakers, amplifiers, etc.

i currently have a subscription to both sterophile and stereophiles guide to home theater(SGHT). i enjoy reading both emmensely (even if i can't afford 2/3rd's of the stuff in stereophile). still cool to dream about...:D
SGHT reviews a good amount of equipment in a 'reasonabl'e price range. -
I just subscribed to Home Theater magazine, but have yet to get a copy in the mail. Anybody read that one?
-
no, but i have the subscription card sitting on my desk at home, very tempting...:D

I get one year subcription of Stereophile for $3.95 at:

They have many other magazines for the same price. -

Ok, what gives? I go there and it says $15.9550%-off. I don't see it for $3.95.
It's $11.97 at the Stereophile website.

yeah, i got the same thing through that link. i'll just stick with stereophile directly...(actually, i have to renew both right about now)

Those type of deals always seem to try to confuse people anyway....it's probably some amway gig

It appears that they had changed since I ordered from them 3 months ago (although it still show $3.95 when you just get to their website). Sorry to y' all.
