I know I've only had mine for a few months, but I found one that really caught my eye and now has me thinking, again. Here is the link for it. My friends shop just got it in and I sat there for a while playing with it. The menu is fairly easy to navigate, the screen is sharp as ****, sharper then most 6.5 screens I've seen. I like how it can also read DVD-mp3 cd's, thats probably every cd I have on one disk. Video/Audio input, Video output, 3 sets of gold plated 5v RCA outs. Tell me what you guys think.

it's cool, yeah, but how enjoyable is it really to watch a movie on a 6.5" screen? all you're gaining by stepping up from your current (good) HU is "ooohhh..."

that's my opinion - i'm not a big mobile video person unless it's a real screen. (read: bigger than 6.5") i'd save the money and use it on something more useful.

I would stick with the Pioneer. I think theyre built better and the P8 has all you need.

But its your money and if youre wanting the JVC then go for it.

I agree. Pioneer = pretty cool. Premier = really cool. JVC = you couldn't afford something nicer. At least, that's the way it is in my book.

One thing that stands out to me is how didfferent these two HU's are. If you were originally wanting a HU with a screen, then why in the world did you go with the P8MP? The JVC is a totally different animal. If you bought the P8MP (a very nice HU) and thought you'd be satisfied with it, I suspect you will be.

I'm never satisfied. I like how once again, it's different. It's a 3" screen that doesn't have to slide out, I like that it read's DVD-mp3's. I've thought about adding a video screen, not necessarily for movies, but possibly for Navigation, cause I do quite a bit of driving. If I did get this, it would be less add-ons that I would need. It's also Sirius ready as well, which I like as well. I'm not sure if I wanna get it or not, just looking for thoughts...

DVD-mp3 is cool, but i personally find mp3s to sound like absolute crap, even when recorded at good bitrates, even VBR. And are you really considering watching a movie on a 3" screen? nah, that'd get old really quickly... i'm pretty sure the p8 is sirius-ready (this is weird, i can't properly access pioneer's site, is this happening to anyone else?)... navigation is cool, but how often are you that lost? or can't call a friend to mapquest it for you?

i strongly urge you to spend the money on something more productive, i think you'll be much happier.

The P8 can do both, it's labeled as XM ready, but if you look at Pioneers new sirius tuner, it says it will work on the P8.

I agree completley. Other than the fact you can stick about a million songs on a single CD, I dont understand why someone would spend a lot of money on a quality system then play crap recordings thru it.

You wouldnt consider putting a cassette player in your car would you?

true, i have some amazing old-school stuff on tape. audiobooks are a nice change of pace on long rides, too, and lots come only on tape. i still don't have a cassette player, though...

someone needs to invent a cassete-to-cd converter... like the ones where you stick the fake cassette in and hook it up to a cd player? that, but the other way round.
