LSiC hook-up...need help.!

I need help hooking up my center speaker.
comming from the back of the AVR is one rca cable to the Rotel 980 going to the left channel.
It does 4-8 ohm loads
The LSiC is 4 ohms
If I bridgred into mono , it would "see" a 2 ohm load, right?

could I just use one side in stereo mode , or would I be loosing info to the speaker by not having both sides sending ?

could I plug the cable into the amp as if it were bridged and just keep it in stereo mode..?

how `bout I run one cable from the top post on the center to the right side of the amp, and the bottom one to the left..?

thanks for the help...

I would not bridge your amp unless you are sure that it doesn't mind bridging into a 4 ohm load.

You will not hurt anything at all by running just one channel of your amp and hooking your speakers into that channel.

You could always try bi-amping and decide for yourself if there is any difference......

Personally - I would bi-amp your LSiC just to say I was doing it.... :D

hook a y cable up to your center channel output on your Preamp or AVR.

Hook one end of the y cable to the right input on your amp.

Hook the other end of the y cable to the left input on your amp.

take out the brass plates that connect the top and bottom terminals on your LSiC. (or is it right and left?)

Hook the right channel or the amp to one set of posts on your center channel (top or right).

Hook the left channel of the amp to the other set of posts on your center channel (bottom or left)

Thats all there is to it. It probably wont add much, but since you have the channel to play with anyway, why not try it.

I wasn`t sure if one signal comming from the AVR, going into R/L on the amp would cause problems...

If this setup passes the beardog test, I`m having a big sale, and getting the HT pre/pro-amp that I have my eye on..

If not then ...no biggie , nothing lost..!!

How far are you from Orange County? (I know nothing about California)

No problems at all. As a matter of fact if you wanted to run another SVS ultra you would do the same thing with your LFE channel. (y cable - one end of Y to each of your subs)

Should work really well. I am sure you will like it.

Well I think you need to split the other direction. (the output on your pre-amp or AVR is female so you need one male end on the y cable. The RCA cables that you plan to connect to the right and left channels are male so you will need 2 female ends.

1 male - 2 female. (that should be easy for most guys to remember. :D )

While you are waiting for the audio store to open tomorrow, just hook your RCA cable from your Center output to one input on your amp and then connect your speaker to that output.

Jumper the connections on the speakers and just run it with one amp channel for now. Leave the other amp channel disconnected for now.

Since you have the extra channel available, it is worth the cost of a Y adapter and one interconnect to see if Bi-Amping does anything for you.

I assume you got your LSiC hooked up. What did you end up doing with it? (Bi-Wire, Bi-Amp, Just hook it up and listen, etc.)

How do you like the sound?

If you tried any other ways to hook it up, what did you prefer and why??

Inquiring minds want to know.. :D

    **THUMP THUMP**

    is this thing on ?

I hooked it up with the only thing I had..

1 I/C out of the AVR , split from 1 female to 2 males into the amp
    works fine

The LsiC is far better than the 245 ,I bi-wired all but the surrounds..too far to run two set`s of cables

I almost like the RTxxi`s better...still hard to tell..

This week-end I`m gonna give both set ups a good workout

What do you like better about the Rtxxi series than the LSi's? Opus was thinking of upgrading his RTi's to LSi's and it may help him make his decision.

What are you listening to mainly with the speakers to make this decision? (SACD, DVD-A, DVD movies, etc.?) Also, I know you are using external amps, but what are you driving the LSi's with? Did you run the RTxxi series from external amps as well or did you use an AVR ar the time?

Sorry to bombard you with questions, but I have not heard any of that series of speakers before (but I have heard the LSi's) and I would like to get your impressions.
