To my understanding the LSI subs got pulled from production because of the amps burning up. Whats the latest on this, and when this sub may re-appear?

The PSW1000 is basically the same as the LSiW. It should be out shortly.

He just forgets to turn the system down while typing. Have you ever tried typing on a bouncing keyboard? Not as easy as it sounds!

I sure the hell hope that Polk doesn't bone this sub like they have the last 2 versions of it. I also hope that they have a customer base to draw from (with regard to subs) considering their track record as of late to give the market a higher end sub. Actually, with their price point on the 1000, they're not looking to 'give' anything to the market........

    MacLeod,

I think you are HIGHLY misinformed. I will give you a second chance. Check out this site and also check out the IB Photo Gallery at the top. IB subs are the greatest subs in the world. You can't make anything sound better.

maybe car IB subs kinda suck because their baffle isnt so infinite, probably as infinite as the car or trunk, which isnt that infinite. so id say that kinda defeats the purpose.

I didn't know they junked two of them and this is the third version. I see that there is a replacement the PSW1000. I sure do miss some of the old stuff they made. SDA, PSW1200, monitor 10, etc. Thanks for the replies everyone.

tell that to Image Dynamics about their IDMAX. Honestly man, IB is a damn nice setup. You just need a ****-ton of power.

The sub started off as the PSW808, was shown at CES in Vegas, and then so much delay happened that they renamed it the LSiW. The boards were making them burn up and as a fire hazard were all recalled and is now being branded the PSW1000.

I REALLY do hope they fix it, because I can't see how they can expect people to pay $1200 for a sub that is essentially gen 3 of a design that they can't seem to get to work.

I have a PSW1200 and agree that they did that one right. If nothing else, re-release THAT sub (it DEFINITELY has appeal) and THEN they could comfortably work back into the $1000+ market.

The link works just fine, try it again.

Also, they're not "free-air" subs. They are regular sub drivers that use a spare room like the basement or an attic as their enclosure. They're pretty much a sealed subwoofer in a thousand+ cubic foot enclosure. No box coloration, and SICK amounts of output. You also only need 50% or less power to move them as much as a boxed sub and they go EXTREMELY low. There are some IB setups, in homes, that can hit 120db+ at 15hz.

I heard that the PSW1200 was a great sub. I'd buy one if it was put back into production. I guess we will see what happens with the PSW1000

Not true at all. They can sound great if you properly seal the trunk and do some tuning. They're pretty easy to screw up though.
