mixing rti with lsi series

would mixing the rti with the lsi series be consider two different speaker types.should you always try and stay with a series?

You might get away with RTi surrounds in a LSi setup, or LSi surrounds in a RTi setup - but otherwise... it would be like mixing coke with cereal.

I have RTI100s as my surrounds in my system with my LSI 15s (and now) LSI9 as a center. They work well. It's not a perfect match but it is pretty decent considering they are different speakers. Eventually I will get all LSI.

I had RTi6's for surrounds with the front stage being LSi's - after switching the back to LSi's the difference was very noticable. If you listen to 5.1 music, don't even try mixing the RTi and LSi, the result is terrible as the back speakers stand out like a sore thumb. If it's just movies you can get away with it, but a complete LSi setup still sounds more consistant making surround effects less obvious.

Me too...RTi25's as surrounds with my LSi Front three...works fine. If I really had to compare, I'd say the RT's are a bit brighter than the LSi's, but not so much so that it's bothersome, at least for surround application.

thanks to all who replied. hey sid how are those def. techs treating you? listened to the bp7002s monday, started saving my money tuesday.:) love the bass. aggresive in your face speaker with endless power. 300 watt 12 inch subwoofers built-in.handels up to 300 watts...lots of sound. can you be evicted form a neigberhood?:p

FYI Dr. Spec knows his stuff and uses a cs400i with lsi7's for the front stage. I am now using a phantom center but did use a cs245i and thought it blended just fine for movies - sacds revealed its less subtle musical side but it was very listenable.

I still use rt25i's for rears and since mine are placed near side wall corners I actually prefer them! The brighter tweeter helps with clarity and they are also less "boomy" than lsi7's would be placed in a corner.
