Got my first subwoofer today! I got a question or two...

Options
Hey all!

So I just get paid, and I drop by the local Goodwill on the way to the gym. I am looking around and I find a M&K VX-4 Sub in good condition.

I buy it, and bring it home. Since I don't have pre-outs and one of the sub inputs has damage, I use RCA cables from my Tape Out (Yamaha CR640) to the L-R preamp inputs.

Bass is very good and tightly focused, which to me is way more important than the power itself. It melds allright with my Polk 5jr+'s.

Here are my questions:
I've googled my head off. Whats the approximate worth?
Where can I find tech specs? MKaudio.com is down.
Was $50 a good deal?

I have no idea about the retail value, but I do know it was higher than $50.

For $50, I would have picked it up. Hope it works well for you.

    What are your main speakers?

My primary speakers are Polk 5jr+'s. I know that is not amazing but much better than my 1999 bookshelf sonys.

Congrats on the purchase! One thing you might want to check with the way the sub is hooked up is to make sure that the Tape Out's on the Receiver are VARIABLE. If they're not, your sub will play at the same volume no matter what volume you have your main speakers at.

For $50, you definately can't go wrong!

    Pioneer VSX-D912K
    Polk CSi30 Center
    RM6005 Satellites (Fronts/Surrounds/Rear Center)
    Nameless 10" Sub

Hmm, I didn't do too bad for the price. Because my mains are not big the 50 watts definately goes a long way. I love the way it fills in rest of the music. I mean, it melds seamlessly with my midrange.
