I picked it up today. My Toshiba 34" 16x9 beauty of a TV.

Still messing around with all the settings but have a question here.

If a DVD is 16x9, I should run it in "Full" mode correct? Or is that only for Anamorphic DVDs?

If a DVD is in 2.85:1, 1.85:1, or 1.33:1, what should I run it in? Too many damn choices!! :)

Love this TV, my GameCube RAWKS on it

Ah, you will continue to love this TV. This is a 34" widescreen TV? That's pretty cool. I thought mine (40") was the smallest Tosh made. I was wrong.

Watch everything on FULL. When you see that the image is being squeezed (a sign of non-anamorphism -- DVD labeling is sometimes incorrect, you'll find), pop out to TheaterWide settings (usually "TW2"). Expect horizontal black bars top and bottom on some anamorphic aspect ratios. 4:3 stuff is STANDARD of course (or expanded with a TW setting, too, to fill the screen).

Does it have gray or black vertical sidebars in STANDARD mode?

I want to go home and watch movies now. Be sure to post some pics in the system showcase!

4:3 stuff is best in TW1 mode, I think.

Moulin Rouge, which is 2.85:1 looks best in Full. I think that it's just a matter of fiddling with it till it looks best for that content.

Yea, this is Toshiba's smallest 16x9. It's a tube TV, not projection. Looks FREAKING AMAZING :)

    Keep it real Micah!

Not just a pair, I got the C and the FX too :)

After getting some 18" Anthracite OZ P1 wheels for my car, then I am going to get a 5.1 amp to get some action going there.

    :)
