Does anybody have some good advice as to set up your base management when your sub and your reciever wont allow you to disable the cut of frequency. I heard that if you turn the cutoff all the way up on the sub this might help minamize the effect .

Page 26 of your manual has the basic setup information you need.

Setting the sub to "Yes" allows you to select the crossover point (pg.50) between 40 and 200hz.

KL, as Frank pointed out, your 5740 has a wide selection of crossover frequencies. With your speakers the most commonly suggested 80Hz should work well. When the sub has a switch or separate input to bypass its internal crossover, it should be used to prevent a conflict with the crossover which the receiver is doing; if, as with the SA-WM500, it doesn't have such a bypass, the next best thing is to turn the subwoofer crossover control all the way up so as to get it as far out of the way as possible. Your SA-WM500 has settings above 150Hz, which may not be strictly accurate, but would result in little or no conflict with an 80Hz crossover in the 5740.
