hello,
i want to create a system with a little more punch on the midbass area. I already have a kicker (s12L7) sub that handles from 20hz-100hz with a visonik class-x amp to power it, 2-polk db525 speakers, sony xplod mp3 color deck, and a 4 channel clarion apa450 amplifier to power the speakers. I am going to upgrade the other stock speakers in my 1994 celica st coupe, but i would like some advice. Should i get a pair of component 6 3/4" speakers (db6750), or should i get midbass speakers and midrange speakers and tweeters with custom crossover points. If i was to go with the more complicated selection, does anyone know of a 3-way passive crossover that will send the midbass 500hertz and below, then send the midrange 500hertz-2000hertz then send the tweeter 2000hertz and up. thanks for your advice

Well 5.25's have never been known for making much midbass. A 6.5 or 6.75 now is a different story. Adding a set of 6.75 DB's in the back would add more midbass to your overall sound although I always kinda thought the DB series were a little lacking in the midbass department. Polk speakers are about the most detailed speaker you can get but this comes at the cost of midbass.

If youre going to get 6.75's in the back Id say just get the coaxials. The main difference would be in the tweeters and with them being in the back you aint gonna miss em that much.

Simply getting a set of 6.5" midbass speakers tho wouldnt be too bad of an idea. But they usually require a little more effort in installing them than regular speakers.
