Paypal delay??

Hi all,
I finally won the bid on a pair of RT800 to go with my CS400 and fx500 but am waiting for the seller to get them shipped. After two days we had this e-mail exchange:
"You asked:
"Hi, You were paid two days ago yet I still haven't heard a word from you. Hmmmmmmm Please send the tracking info to (gmail address) or at least let me know when you are planning on shipping. Thank you in advance for your prompt reply, Scott"
Sorry I haven't contacted you, I'm waiting for the money to transfer to my account. The process usually takes a few days. Once I see it has transferred I will ship them out and give you the tracking number. Thanks-Emily"
I've never sold anything over the net but thought that Paypal was supposed to be instant. Do you think this could be a legit delay - I am beginning to feel like I am being snowed.
Thanks for the help,
Scott

The paypal should show immidiately if you log in. You also should have gotten an email confirmation stating that funds were sent to you, how much, and by whom.
Sounds like a snow job. Ask them for confrmation info on the transaction. They should have that in their account, or email inbox. -
The seller is correct. Your money will transfer to the sellers PayPal account right away, but then it takes a few days for the money to transfer from PayPal to the sellers bank account. The seller wants to wait for the money to be in their bank before shipping and I don't blame them, I do the same thing.Political Correctness'.........defined

AHH! I totally misread that the first time when I responded. Had it bass ackwards.
F1 is right. -
It never ceases to amaze me the number of buyers on Ebay who expect instantaneous shipping. It very rarely happens that way. For one, the seller could be one of those who sells hundreds or thousands of items and has maybe a once or twice a week pickup. Then there's the guy who maybe lives 20 miles from the nearest shipping facility and works 40 hrs a week or more. Just like most sellers give you several days to a week to pay, you should give them the same leeway for shipping. Just my opinion of course.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. Thanks F1 and Phuz,
I thought Paypal was instant but forgot about the time to transfer from Paypal to the bank. Oh well, I guess I have waited several months to find a good deal on the rt800's - a couple more days isn't going to kill me. Now if I could just get my ears to quit itching to hear that wonderful balanced sound of a well matched system . . .

Dragon1952,
I did NOT expect instantaneous shipping, but IMHO it would have been nice if she had contacted me before two days had expired to let me know when she was planning on shipping. If you refer to the first post I am asking for help because I have very limited internet shopping experience and want to know if this is normal or not. I do want to thank you for the help with understanding how things work from the "other side" (sellers side)

there is a option when you pay in Paypal that delays it if you do not watch it. I believe it is called echeck or something to that affect. I believe it is the default setting for payment. You need to make sure you check instant bank transfer or credit card. It will take around 4 days for this thing to clear.Matthew

Masanz is correct, there is a default option that is user selectable. It's found on the last payment page where you click ok or send or whatever it says. Anyway, click on "Other Options" to select.Political Correctness'.........defined

I buy and sell stuff from eBay all the time and if I pay immediately, I expect the item to be shipped immediately (i.e., within a day or two). It is poor customer service for the seller to ship stuff out at his/her convenience after being paid in full.
I ship out ASAP for items I sell when paid for via PayPal. The money is available in the seller's acount and can be spent by the seller immediately, so I shouldn't have to wait until it gets into the seller's bank account. If that's the case, the seller should make it known to potential buyers that there will be a delay in shipping. If not, no positive feedback is given.
Selling stuff on Amazon.com is cool because for every transaction, they expect the seller to ship stuff out within a day or two. That's fair enough.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

A large portion of PayPal's bottom line profits annually come from the "float" income generated from your funds which are "in transit." This is not an uncommon banking practice. Your personal bank does the same thing to generate profit and satisfy their overnight cash requirements to the Federal Reserve bank.
To their credit, PayPal does "sweep" your funds for you and credits you with Money Market interest rates on your float. Ask your personal bank if they'll do the same and watch them start stuttering. -

I'm with Labrat on this one.
When the money hits the PayPal account, its the sellers money to do whatever they want with it.
I sell a lot of stuff on Ebay and I always ship within a day or two after payment is received in my PayPal acct. Often, I leave money in Paypal for an extended time waiting to purchase something else. That's my choice, just like it would be to transfer it to my checking acct.
The only time a delay is called for is if they do an E-check or bank transfer to PayPal which does take several days to complete before the money appears is in the PayPal balance.
I guess there are some "old school" people who don't believe that the money is theirs until the cash is in thier hands.
How would you like it if you Mortgage Co. or Credit card didn't post your payment until your check cleared from the issuing bank? You wouldn't. You would have to pay your bills 4-5 days earlier. Another example would be if you went to a store and bought something with your debit card and the store said, "come back in two days to pick this up, the money should have cleared your bank by then." Nobody would ever buy anything that way.
Its just a matter of principle. When payment is received for something, they've paid for it, its their's, now ship it to them already! For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Yeah!
It took just a few hours short of a full seven days (I paid with a credit card, not funds transfer) but I just got a message that the RT800 have been sent insured by the postal service. The interesting part is that they are being shipped in three boxes! I guess it was cheaper to ship if the bases were removed, the only thing is I didn't know it was possible to remove them unless you used the chainsaw method. Should I be worried?
Thanks in advance,
Labrat -
I think the bases come off pretty easily. I wouldn't worry too much about that particular aspect of it. The thought of shipping RT800's scares the heck out of me, but the bases have little to do with it. Good luck!

Labrat,
The bases are attached by 4 large screws and 4 spacers. They will reinstall quite easily, just make sure you have a large phillips head. Shipping shouldn't be a problem if the seller took the time to package them up properly. I just got a set last week and the seller did a piss poor job of packaging. Despite that, there was no significant damage to the speakers. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
It took 13 days after she had the money but the RT800 finally showed up (shipped 7 days after payment). They are an amazing improvement over the monitor 5jr's and blend incredibly with the cs400 and fx500.
When I asked about the covers to the carpet spikes she said she didn't know what I was talking about, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised when they arrived without carpet spikes. She also claimed "They will be very well packed for the next lucky owner" in the ad, but arrived with a ding in on of the top back corners. Other than that awsome speakers.
Now the next thing to figure out is feedback. Any advice as to what feedback to leave, if any? I know that several of you can have fun with this, so I am pitching a "high, slow softball."
Thanks,
Labrat -
IMO you'd have to give either neutral or positive, depending on how happy you are with them. You could give either rating and say something like 'slow shipping and communication. slight damage due to inadequate packing' . I wouldn't give negative but it's up to you.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. Labrat,
It sounds like you had a very similar experience to what I had recently. Poor packaging, a few dings, no feet, no jumper plates, broken grill peg. I will most certainly leave neg feedback for my seller, but this is after I've tried for the last 2 weeks to get the seller to make things right.
You need to see if your seller is willing to make things right. Complain about the lack of feet and see if they offer to buy a set for you. Complain about the dents and see if they offer money back. If they ignore you or tell to go fly a kite, then leave neg feedback. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
