Sirius Issues

I'm in a rental car this week that has Sirius, and there are a few quirky things about the system I don't know that I've ever heard of before. I got to wondering what other quirky things exist with Satellite Radio that you guys have experienced.

When I go under a bridge, the signal goes away. Now, I understand the concept of concrete blockage. If i'm sitting under a bridge waiting to get on the freeway or whatever, I 'get' why the signal goes away. What I don't understand is how I can be doing 45-50mph and be under the bridge for 1-2 seconds and still lose it. If a $80 cd player can have a 45 second buffer, why the hell couldn't/shouldn't they have that feature with these things?

This is more about the specific type of faceplate unit that is in this rental. Not having shopped for this before, I don't know what's typical vs. not. This unit has a small text display, with a numeric keypad that makes my cell phone buttons feel Jolly Green Giantish. If I was to even consider satellite, it would need to have decent sized buttons, and text that's at least as large as most in dash cd/radio players to easily read the info.

Probably not so much anything other than 'it is what it is', but out of however many stations this thing is capable of, I listen to 2. I guess you pay for the lack of commercials, but CD's will last me for years and for a one time fee.
I'm not totally sold on the Satellite radio market, but I'm also curious what things others experience that aren't such common knowledge for those that haven't ever experienced the things.

My guess is that its just a good old fashioned case of they haven't gotten around to that feature yet. I see no reason either why they can't put that feature in eventually. -
Brett, i'm with you all the way on this one.
I can't justify paying for sat radio if it's going to have "dead" spots with nearly every bridge you go under. that's worse then FM radio, IMHO. and FM is FREE!
$10 is not a huge expense. but you also have to figure in the cost of the head unit for it. plus $10 over 5 yrs is $600. and what do you have to show for it? nada.
At least with a CD. $600 will buy a helluva lot of CD's. that you can listen to over and over again without dead zones.
