Heard it on another forum that Tweeter is dropping MB Quart  and will be picking up Focal and Audison.

Thatll be cool cause Tweeter does have great soundboards and Id love to A/B some Momo and Focal Polyglass speakers.

Something about a move to the states when Rockford bought em. The German govt. wouldn't allow it, so they're nullifying the name/company and starting new.

There was a link to a press release about it posted over at the elite car audio forums.

We are currently in the process of reworking all the products to create a significant increase in price/performance ratio.

Oh well, it gives Polk more of an incentive to make higher end stuff.

i read the press release, and it said that the business with dropping mbquart is just some legal crap. they're going to continue with the same stuff under a different name, minus the amplifiers.

    Outstanding!!

Having the Polk lineup on the same board as JL Audio, MB Quart and Boston Accoustic is really good exposure. Most people know the other brands as high end but may not know Polk as anything other than home audio gear.

Once people go in there and audition the $1000 offerings from the others and then hear the $800'ish Polks, well I predict youll sell a bunch of em!

Very interesting...and sad. I've like the MB Quarts stuff every time I've heard them. Perhaps Tweeter is having some mad sells on the MB Quartz stuff...and I should go relieve them of their stock..hmm....

I'd like to hear Focal and Audison, though; that'll be cool. And the new Polks! I can't wait to hear them, even though I know they'll be way out of my price-range.

I was at tweeter for about an hour and a half litteraly listening to everything on the board under $500 for components, I'd have to say the best sound were the polk(atleast for my ear) at first they sounded ehh, then after an hour I realized I should try turning the treble up in the h/u(cause their x-overs werent avail to adjust) and once i turned treble up they sounded great, right then I walked out confident I am getting the polks

    Good choice.

The only thingd Tweeter has that can handle the $300 Momos are the $1300 Q's and the $600 Boston Pros.

Ahh, this is so depressing. I get all keyed up about car audio and run out and buy some (bright with no bass) Boston Acoustic components, and then I hardly ever listen to them (= could have waited longer). Now, Tweeter is doing away with MB Quartz, and I could have bought some MB Quartz 5.25" components that I'm sure would sound way better for just $30 more. Then, they have a nice Alpine HU (9821, I think) that I'd be satisfied with for $250; much cheaper than my HU was. Spiralling prices are so depressing after you've already bought your gear.

Dont sweat it. Bostons are nothing to snicker at. They make some damn fine speakers.

Once you get them installed and dialed in properly, I bet youll like em a lot more.
