Which receiver to get?

2 R50 Fronts
2 R30 Surrounds
CSI30 Center
PSW303 Sub

Can any of you recommend one of the following receivers for this system?

Denon AVR 1705
Denon AVR 1905
Onkyo SR502
Onkyo SR602

THis is going in my basement that is approximately 14 x 12. I know this is not the highest quality polk system on the market but it is very suitable for my needs. This will be my first ever home theater system so I have no clue as to what type of receiver I need.

    My choice for your system would be the Denon 1905. It is a good performer for the money, especially if you get it as a refrub from ubid, ecost, or pcmall.
    It also has preamp outputs if you ever decide to upgrade to speakers that need an external amp.
    Another nice little perk of this receiver is the component video upconversion.

    I would go either with the 1905 or the 602. Both are good receivers & should drive your speakers well.

    If you can afford to spend more, get a receiver with preamp outs. The Onkyo 702 is the cheapest model with that function. I'm not sure where in the line that Denon brings that into their models.

    1905. I also suggest this one.

    Home Setup: Sony VPL-VW85 Projo, 92" Stewart Firehawk, Pioneer Elite SC-65, PS3, RTi12 fronts, CSi5, FXi6 rears, RTi6 surround backs, RTi4 height, MFW-15 Subwoofer.

    Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

    They allow you to run an external amplifier from your reciever. You would then plug your speakers into your amplifier.

    i.e. - you are now running 5 speakers (forget the sub for this demo...) from your AVR. You decide to blow your tax return check on a really large set of front speakers. You could purchase a nice used 2 channel amp to run your front speakers (hooking it up throught the front right and left pre-outs on your AVR) and run the rest of your speakers from your AVR.

    It makes it so that when you want to upgrade to new speakers, that also need a better amp, you can still use the receiver to do all the Dolby Digital surround stuff, among its other features.

    Basically, it makes it more upgrade friendly.

    I mentioned it because thats been my biggest regret so far. I started pretty much exactly as you are. I just wish I had purchased a receiver with preamp outs.

    I am also a newbie, I have a question, there are recievers with direct 2ch stereo capability ( yamaha, marantz.. etc), In that case a preout is not necessary isnt it?
