I've got an old Sony cassette deck, probably 10 years old, but not sure. Will a new cd deck, cheap one, improve the sound quality(cleaner highs and lows)? I am using a small kenwood amp with pioneer 6x9's. And will a cheap cd deck skip?

Thanks

Gerald

yes to both questions. but for the 2nd question, only if youre going over really rough terrain.
try www.electronicscity.com for pioneer, they have extremely cheap prices there

    Thanks for the reply Cody,

Once again I won't be buying online, but instead at Cirucit City since I will have a credit of about $100 once I send back my broken MP3 player. Since I can spend the credit on whatever I want, I figured why not replace my old deck. I don't need no MP3 player, I'd much rather have a new deck.

So I will be looking at whatever is cheap at Circuit city. Would like a unit that plays rewritable cd's and mp3 cds. But just checking: MP3 CD means that you can put like 100 songs or something on one CD right?

    Thanks again!

Will a new CD player sound better than a 10 year old casette player? Hmm.....Im not even gonna touch that one.

Virtually all CD's will play re-writable CD's now and most all of them will play MP3's.

Circuit City is a good place to go. They have a good selection and usually have free installation.

As far as cheap-o's go, you get what you pay for. Buy a $49 CD player and youre gonna get crap. Get a $150+ unit and youll be have a nice little unit.

    Thanks for the reply MacLeod,

Yeah I know, when I said cheap, I meant decent. Probably around $150 or so. See any units on their site you might recommend?

    Thanks

The only thing they will get me in there for is to buy the product. :D I will be installing it myself, plus I got to spend the credit either way.:)

You cant go wrong with Pioneer. Everything they make is excellent. The only negatives to it are no subwoofer output and only 2 volt preouts.
