Rear Surround placement

hi,

i want to know where do you think is the best placement for the surrounds(FX300i)?

My living room(Apt) is connected to my kitchen with no walls to get a "close" sound.

So the attached picture will show the blue and red dots for my surround placement.

I was thinking of putting my surrounds lying behind the sofa(BLUE dots) and directing to the ceiling....is that a good idea?...and since the FX300i is bi directional is that ok?

Or should i just put in the red dots using speaker stands...but is too close too my bedroom door....also dun wanna spend anymore money.....saving for a camera(Mamiya 7)..:D

any feedback will be appreciated.....its a rough picture...so bear with it.
