I need some advice on a CS245 center channel that I have in my theater. Ever since I got it I have been bothered by it's "Boxy" or midrange-y sound in compairison to the RT 5's I have as mains. Anyone else ever experience this? I can tame it a bit with a little EQ, but it's still obvious.

What is your receiver/amp that you are driving it with...

    Room size?
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

How do you have it positioned? If on an inside shelf that is closed on the back and sides, it may be emphasizing your mid-bass and giving you the "boxy sound". The speaker will always sound most natural if it is "in the open", sonically speaking. Also make sure you have the speaker on a solid foundation with isolation pads/feet or blue-tak.

It is on a small (6") stand designed for center channel speakers and loaded with sand and lead shot. The room is aprox 14' by 20'. The mains and surrounds sound fine, but there is definatly a tonal change when i compare pink noise between the RT5's and the center. All levels are the same and there is no EQ applied.

I guess they are just not really timbre matched. I have a CS245i that sounds great with my system.
