If you like contemporay-borderline progressive piano jazz, look no further. Though I've had this CD for years, I felt compelled to share for the younger folks. This CD is circa 1987'ish I think.

"Re Bach" is a favorite "demo" song of mine that really shows off a good system (or bad one for that matter). The recording is wonderful, DDD; miked and engineered very well.

Thanks Steve. I forgot I had this in my collection. Another great demo cd of the same type is GRP-Live In Session from 1985. It's bascially a live recording in the studio. The GRP label is known for excellent sounding recordings of what I call "pop" Jazz. This performance is excellent and the recording is stunning.

Track 2-Oasis has a short drum solo which is an excellent demo track for solid, tight, realistic drum sound. A good track to test the "pace" and "rythum" of your speakers.

There is only 1 vocal track on this cd.

Another great cd especially for deep organic bass and vocal is anything by the Holly Cole Trio. I have the best of cd and I get chills sometimes listening to how well it's recorded. The bass is deep, sold and extended. Minimal effects and processing makes this a very real sounding disc. Defineatly would be a good demo for a stereo system.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul!

    Steve,

I have several of Benoit's albums, don't remember this one. I thought the best of his album was Letter for Evan and the last one, Right Here Right Now.

    He is a genius, though...
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
