bookshelves or towers. Bi/dipole's aren't meant to be for music, they're designed for movies. Bipoles will work but still can't beat a set of bookshelves.

Take a lok at the insert in any Sony SACD, it states that for the best sound use 5 identical speakers. Not really practical for most people really.

    Toxis,
I disagree with your assertion that bi/di-pole speakers were "designed" for movies. The design has nothing to do with movies or music, it has to do with creating a sound stage that is seamless and not directional like a conventional speaker. Although they bi/dipole speakers may not be a panacea, don't be too quick to claim that they are inferior to a bookshelf speaker. There are far to many variables to consider before recommending one over the other, room size/configuration not withstanding. I've been continually amazed at the sound of my FX's and have tried using my 7's instead and always go back to the FX's.
