I have a Rotel RSP-980 I use as a stereo preamp and it has an outlet on the back. Is it ok to plug my amp into there so I dont have to switch them both on separately or should I plug the amp into a separate wall socket?
Thanks in advance!

Don't plug anything into your preamp or receiver that draws significant current. Therefore, plug the amp into the wall outlet.
