DVD player with component audio outputs

I'm doing some research to see if I can find a DVDP with an output for each audio channel. 5.1 needed, only.

My receiver only allows for individual inputs, no digital :(. For starters, I'd like to use it in my upcoming HT, and yes it will be replaced eventually.

My Toshiba does this (look for model number in sig). The video and sound quality of dvd's is great. Keep in mind that I use a Digital coax for audio - It does have individual outputs though.

One word of warning - sound quality really blows for playing audio CD's. (just so you know)

i know alot of older DVD players have those 5.1 audio outs. I don't think they are that common with current DVD players. so you may need to look for an older Toshiba for that feature.

I'd suggest also looking at the Klipsch DD 5.1 decoder. I've used it before, and think Ron is still using it now.

You could run your digital from you DVD player to the Klipsch unit, and run the 5.1 from the Klipsch to the receiver.

I highly reccomend this unit, it's a great performer...

You can do a search online, but here's an old review I came across...

Also, any DVD player that supports SACD would by definition have to have the analog outs. My Pioneer 578A for example.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

That Klipsch unit looks great, but it's a bit pricey. I'm looking to spend $100-$150 on either a decoder or a DVDP

I have a JVC with the 5.1 outputs in the closet. Like new with box. Never used it much because I got my pioneer afterwards. You can have it for $50 plus shipping if you want. It was like $420 new.

I am very interested, let me see how my financials stand and I'll get back to you. You don't happen to know the model, do you? And does it have the JVC compulink system?

    Madmax,

Not to take over the thread or anything, but do you know how it sounds with audio CD's? If you really are willing to sell it and nadams decides to pass on it, send me a PM and we can work out the details.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Just be sure you do your research!!! Reason is, MOST dvd players with the 6 channel analog outputs are for the SACD/DVD-audio processors only and do not have Dolby Digital/DTS decoders built in. Make sure it has all processors needed, not just the output.

Looks like a great player, and normally I'd go for it.

BUT- I found an entire website with reviews that were horrible. It seems that the player is prone to freezing an dropping frames as it gets older. There was actually a class-action lawsuit against JVC because of this DVD player.

And for that reason, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass and keep looking. Sorry Madmax!

There's quite a few of those on the 'bay. How's the sound quality with SACD and regular CDs. Seems to be a nice unit... Found a used one for $89.99 w/ $10 shipping... seems pretty reasonable. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait awhile before I pick one up as I'm a little strapped for cash right now.

    Thanks,

Nadams, that Sony SACD player is awesome for the money.
I had my girlfriend buy it for her system. It has all of the same high quality features as my Sony DVD/SACD player that I bought
new in 2003 for $300 at Circuit City. The price on my DVD player dropped so quick that I had to keep going back to CC to get refunds because of their 30 day price policy. If the item goes on sale within 30 days you can get the difference. It made the price of my player go down to $180 or $150. One of the nice features of these two DVD/SACD players is that the 5.1 channel outputs
also work for DD and DTS because they have built in DD/DTS decoders. They are perfect for the AVRs that use the 5.1 analogue
inputs. My Sony DVD/SACD player outperforms Yamahas entry-level $300 DVD player in sound and picture by a mile. Night and day difference. It also blew away all of the panasonics in the same and above price class. My player model # is DVP-NS755V.
They discontinued it I think, but it is good IMO. I haven't had any problems. I tried lots of DVD players due to the good return policy
of CC. They changed that policy thanks to people like me:D I'm not proud of that BTW.. The sound of the panny DVD players were very thin and quiet. The video was just as bad. I had 3 Panasonics that were dead out of the box. The video played like
one of those cheap $50 players that jumps all over. I hate Sony speakers, AVRs, and AMPS. They can make some good TVs and DVD players though. They are king of the cheap DVD players IMO.

madmax, IIRC, that JVC was actually rebadged and sold as the first Rotel dvd player....do a little search...I think that was the model that replaced JVC 501 which I have as a spare....JVC and Rotel in bed together...who would have thought.

    System 2: LSi15 w/db840, Marantz SR8400, Rotel 1080, RM6800 (C&S), Sony X2020ES

System 3: LSi7, Yamaha SW215, Music Hall Maven, Music Hall MMF CD25 w/627opamps
