One of the very first things you ever learn about guns is to ALWAYS ASSUME they are loaded. You would think someone teaching a gun safety class to CHILDREN would know this basic rule.
What a tool.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

That has to be the dumbest numbnutt idiot gun class teacher in the history of the world. You can never assume that a gun is empty. He should check the chamber before, during, and after the class. I got a G23 .40 and getting shot with it is no picnic, I imagine. It is a wonder that he din't blow his nuttsack off! I am glad that there were no kids hurt or killed during the class. I hope that was his last class.
Bobman1235 is absolutely correct! If it was at all real (IE not staged / acting) the guy seemed pretty shaken up when the thing went off. If he had done it on purpose he would have been prepared for it, rather than just stammering for like a minute. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

watched it again, and If a bullet had come out of that barrel, one of the following would have happened:
-The guy to the right, probably assisting the presentation or something, would have at least come close to the cop to see if he was ok...
-At least a few kids would have jumped from their seats to see the wound..or the hole in the wall..
-The camera guy.....stood as if nothing happened...
IMO a fake._________________________________________________

Ive always heard that when youre shot in a leg or somewhere not vital that you go into shock. This may be why. He may not have been thinking clearly. I know if you were to shoot me in the leg with a .40 caliber bullet, I wouldnt be thinking clearly.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I will be interested in seeing what exactly happened here. I have worked with pistols for many years as an instructor and tactical team member. The link stated the weapon fired when the slide was closed. I have never seen or had a slam fire with a pistol reported, shotguns yes there safety is merely a trigger block nothing to do with the firing pin, cookoffs with M-4's yes, Remington actions for precision rifle double feeds yes, but something is very wrong here. There are internal hammer/pin blocks to prevent this in pistols, you can close the slide till doomsday with a round chambered and the weapon will not fire until Bubba pulls the trigger.
Different agency but word travels pretty quick, I will see what scuttle butt shakes out. It may well be something the instructor does for shock value, but I have never heard of anyone doing it, but DEA is a bit on the wild side. Not something I would ever think to do, especially with kids.

You know I saw this video before it was posted here and I was totally skeptical. The link provided from that 'news' source isn't convincing me either. I'm outright saying it's a fake, but I own a Glock .40 with numerous other firearms and I've never seen a .40 cal go off without any muzzle blast. Even my 9mm gives off a decent muzzle blast.
I'm just not buying this at all. This was quite obviously staged for shock value. You're telling me that the parents of the kids wouldn't be running the hell out of there?
Sorry, but this is not what it's dubbed as. -
Well, talk around here is that it was not staged. The weapon fired when the officer pulled the trigger causing the officer to be hit.

I find it kind of funny that his assistant person tried to bring him an even bigger gun after that...
