Ok Just wanted to say a Big thank you from a Young guy Just starting to become an Audiophile...For 23 Years of age I got alot of nice stuff to be bleased with. You guys are always alot of help and if anyone ever has and computer/internet question feel free to send a message my way.
Now for the help i need! I bought the HK AVR635 Kicks alot of **** more than my Sony Reciever ever did. So I decided to run a Cheap multiroom setup so I can have speakers outside, in the ****, and most impostantly in the kitchen. I hooked everything up and cant get sound out of it. here is how I have this hooked up..RCA plugs going from the multi out on the HK to the aux input on my Sony Reciever. On my Sony Reciver i have the speaker wire for front running to a Monster speaker selector. have my multi speakers hooked up through those. but cant get any sound out of them....any suggestions??? The HK book doesnt give much info on this! Thanks guys!

first, make sure the speakers on the sony are hooked up and working- turn the sony to the tuner and see if you get sound. Next, go into the HK menu for multi room, set "multi-room" to on, "multi in" to the input you want to listen to in the other room, leave the volume alone for now and set "SB Amps" to Main.
My guess is that either you have the "multi in" set to something without a source hooked up or you have "SB Amps" on multi. I think that this disconnects the zone 2 out and you have to hook your zone 2 to the SB pre-amp outs (or just ditch the sony and hook your speakers straight to the SB speaker hookups & set "SB Amps" to multi).Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

i think thats how i had it set ill test again when i get home.....
-
have it set the way you said.....no work did test the sony and it spits out sound for the tuner
-
have checked time and time again and still get no sound even switched cables....possible i bought a avr with dead multi outs everything else works
-
I'm gonna go for the captain obvious question. Are you sure you are hooked to the preouts and not the multi-channel input?
-
im not hooked to the preouts......why wouldnt i hook to the multi outs? i dont wanna take away from my rear channels 6&7 and dont want the harmon to power it!
-
Sorry, I thought you might on the multi-channel inputs, which H/K calls the 6ch direct input. Sounds like you are connected to the right outputs. What source are you trying to play to the 2nd zone? Some receivers don't allow you to play sources that are only connected by optical or digital coax. If you are using a dvd player, etc., try hooking up a pair of analog rca cables.
-
both signals i tried to play were optical.....ill try the tuner at lunch
-
bingo...analog cd player hooked up and works like a charm....thank you!
