Parasound 1200 vs Halo A23
Pauly

So at 4 ohms the Parasound will dish out 315wpc and the Halo will dish out 200 wpc. So thats 115 wpc loss. Will the Halo make up for it in quality and just wont drive as hard? Would you really be "missing" the 115 watts is what i am getting at. Would be interstesting to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

Thought youd poll the audience? LOL
I think the halo wouldnt give anything up to the parasound , did i say that right? I think the halo at less power would be better...
weve had this discussion, and still don't know the answer..MY HT RIG:

I will call Paul (Gen. Mgr.) at Parasound today and get the official answer.
Personal feeling: John Curl put a lot of time into the Halo Amp.
Finese over Force (I think).

You run a tube pre-amp, buy the Classic. The HALO is very nice, but for your application don't worry about it.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I already have a parasound 1200II, was wondering as was paul to try the Halo series amps.. or stick with the classic parasound..
we both run the same tubed pre, just looking for better sound as i move up the food chain.. not that it doesnt sound good now..MY HT RIG:

I just talked to Paul (Parasound).
Whlie the basic board designs are the same (John Curl), there have been many improvements in the quality of the components.
Bottom line. A little less punch , but much more HiFi.

Good Call...Also good to see we have another Florida Polkie
Cliff,
So with the less punch you could eaisly find some tubes to make up for the less "punch"
Just read a thread where EH's where garbarge but i am very much enjoying them..Well actually Cliff is and i am enjoying his Groove Tubes. Need to get those back this weekend bubba

roger wilco on the tubes... we need to switch now i know the Eh's sound good.. and you liked the Grooves, not as much as the Eh's though, I know... how did ya like that 6x4 i sent over?

Where is ormond beach at? Daytona Area?
You me and Cliff could get together at my pad or work something out. I've got a Tube pre and some signal cable to mix in the demo as well
Would like to demo some high end gear
PaulyLife without music would♭ -
Ormond beach just minutes north of Daytona
My gear is easy to reach and rewire.
The A23 is just sitting in a box.
Parasound was kind enough to provide me with the C1, A51 & A23 for testing my cables.
Also, I can travel as long as my wife has some notice.
Since I live on the road, she tends to get touchy when I take side trips.Brent McCall

The Halo series is graded in 3 different levels with the 3 series being the lowest grade of the Halo line. The 1s are the highest level with the best components used in its construction.
This doesn't tell you how it compares to older lines, but is relevant when comparing the new stuff.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

While this is true.
I has more impact on the Pre/Pro units.
C1 has a better power supply.
In the amps it is more about power rating.
A521/A21 are basicaly the same unit just less of in the A21.
The JC1 is a whole nother ballpark.
The A23 by virtue of less output than the A21 has a smaller power supply but basicaly same circuit board.
Same thing just less of it.Brent McCall

Sorry. There is already a line at the office for my old HiFi.
Right now my "Old" Speakers (Monotor Audio) are spread between 2 people.
My Integra 8.2 receiver is at a friends house.
My Niles outdoor are at another friends house.
I gave my LD player away.
I gave a Vidikron VPH 50 projector away.
I gave a Panasonic LCD projector away.
My Davis DLP is on loan.
I cant remember who I loaned my PS2 to.
My Onkyo 727 receiver is at a friends shop.
Parasound is getting my older Crestron system.
And I still have a garage full of HiFi (wife is not happy).
Plus a 32" Toshiba, 20" Mits, 20" Sanyo and somekind of 13".
I develope the Ethereal cables/products (check out the Cable Swap Program in this froum).
It is amazing what goes on in Ormond beach.
BTW: Free gear is GOOD!!!!!

I just replaced an old parasound D/AS1000 (130wpc) with a Halo A21 (250wpc into 8 ohms) and wow what a difference. Just picking the units up will tell you there is a difference, the old parasound is around 30lbs compared to 60+ on the Halo. The Halo has a lot more punch on the low end and has a pretty flat response curve at all listening levels. After having the Halo A21 for a couple of weeks I broke down and got the Halo p3 preamp to replace my Rotel 985BX and again what a difference. The soundstage expanded dramaticly. I am not sure if it was all the preamp or the combination of the preamp and balanced conections with the A21. Bottom line is I am sold on the Halo line.2 ch rig:
