Got a Question for ya. I just aquired a piece of audio gear and want to sell it on ebay. I don't have an account setup with ebay, as a seller or buyer. If I open a new account for me would I get a good number of bids. I wouldn't have any pos. feedbacks. So I'm thinking that would hurt me, as far as getting top dollar. My daughter has an account setup and I don't know how much she has sold or bought. So, my question is, my own or my daughters account. Could use some advice. Thanks.

Gotta get started sometime. Post pics. Have a clear and consise ad (do some reasearch on the item you are selling). Make sure you pack your item REALLY GOOD so UPS, FEDEX or USPS doesnt bust it all to hell. Keep in contact with seller. Give him shipping details and ship promptly. If everything goes good then you should get positive feedback. I have been burned a fews times on good transactions and never got feed back but hey what can you do.

    Good Luck,

So, I can leave a telephone number with the ad? I was wondering about that. I guess I'll go on ebay and do some research. I could always put a reserve on it. Thanks Pauly.

Just put yourself in the buyers shoes; what would you want to know about the item? But don't forget some disclaimers, like if you do not want to ship outside of CONUS, then say so. Things like that...

do some research on Ebay for similar items as yours. that will help you write your auction. Also helps to know how to price your item.

I've never posted my phone number on an auction. I think you would open yourself up for crank calls. Buyers can email you if they have any questions. it's safer that way.

To answer your question further, Yes being new will hurt your sales at first.... If you want top dollar going rate for the item... you may not get it on your first auction.... according to e-bay, ive been on 6 years and 2 months, and a power seller and it gets better the more you sell/or buy... sell some small dollar stuff to get your rep going, write a easy basic ad, state your terms, payments you take, shipping cost, or figure at end of auction... when you would like payment, (5-7 days)(10 days) so on... personal checks or not, I dont take em... and keep the title simple.. you can actually get your ad booted by saying " like adcom amp" or like fenton glassware) for example... any other questions just ask... i may have an answer

    Good luck

Well, I'm gonna give it a try. Just registered as a seller. How can anyone be dishonest at this. They want so much information.

You'd be very suprised. As long as Ebay gets their money, they are mostly hands off.

I use Ebay, I like Ebay...but as with everything, buyer beware, it's just common sense.

    Good Luck.

Some people just have no class, you'd be amazed. Lots of shady sellers on ebay. That's way I prefer to buy here if someone has what I'm looking for.
