Rotel RB 985 100 Watts x5 @ 8ohms
Does any one know whatt the output is at 4ohms?
Manual reads :
DIN output-220 watts chan. 1khz 4ohm 1% thd.

So is it 220 x5 at 4?

$200 plus shipping a good price for this amp?

Whoa! Major steal... did he forget to mention that half the channels don't work or something?

Anyhow, figure on about 170 watts clean power into 4Ohms. 220watts is the max dynamic power- notice the 1%THD at 1khz- not a good thing. SS power amps never have more than 2x power going into 4 ohms vs 8 ohms... For an equal THD, you'll get about 1.5-1.8 times as much power.

Rotel's are very conservative when advertising their output. I would guess the 100X5 in 8 ohms is actually 130x5. I have been told also that Rotels are not designed to drive 4 ohms for a long period of time.

Hehe.... one of these guys probably went over to audiogon, found it, and offered him $250 to cut you out.

Really? Have not heard this before and have never had a problem these past three years with my Rotel amps having a 4 ohm load. In fact, the amps only have ever been warm, even after long periods of playing.

Rotels are not reccommended to drive 4 ohm loads when in bridged mode.

I stand corrected then. My dealer told me this - why he would not suggest Dynaudio speakers.

On another note, my RA-1070 amp only has one set of speaker outs. How can I run a second set of speakers from this amp?

Oh well, I'd probably done the same if I really needed it.;)

    As per your Rotel manual:

"If only one set of speakers will be used at any
given time, the speakers may have an impedance
as low as 4 ohms. If there are times when
both the A and B speakers will be used, all
the speakers should have an impedance of
8 ohms or more. Speaker impedance ratings
are less than precise. In practice, very few loudspeakers
will present any problems for the
    RA-1070."

The drawings and above text states you have the capability to connect two sets of speakers.

Personally, I would have listened to the Dyns with your integrated to see how the combination reacted together and sounded.

Well I did put my name on the dibs list..:D That listing probably did not last more than 5 minutes.

I dunno' though. Deals like that are almost TOO good to be true.

Whoops, I misquoted my equipment - my power amp is a RB-1070 not RA-1070 (integrated map). My preamp is a RC-1070. Now with only one pair of speaker outs would I need to get another amp for the second set of speakers?
