processor configuration

I'm just setting up my first home theater system. I have an Onkyo TX-DS494 receiver with Polk RM6000 speakers. The polk literature talks about configuring the receiver by setting the channels to large or small but my receiver doesn't seems to have these types of settings. The set up sounds pretty good but I want to be certain I'm getting the best sound I can get. Any suggestions on optimal settings for my system or am I just not understanding what Polk is refering to.

Dewald there looks to be a setting called "easy-set speaker configuration" that sets up the speakers for you basically. You may want to turn this function off (don't know if you can or not) and then proceed from there. That is the only thing I could find on this receiver that would limit you from the functions you want to do (stated above)
Hope this helps you. -
Look on page 21 of your manual "setting the subwoofer mode".
