In-Ceiling Speakers

Hello All,

First, let me tell you that I did do a search on this subject. Not much info was offered on in-ceiling speakers.

I just bought a new house and choose the in-ceiling 6.1 pre-wire option. I have an older set (6yrs) of Polk RM7300 (which does not look like the current version) and somewhat happy with them. I'm going to put this in the Master Bed and want new in-ceiling speakers. The builder offers JBL in-ceiling speakers, but wants an outrages price. Any recommendations for in-ceiling speakers all around?? TC80i or RC80i? LC80i looks interesting, but I don’t have a 4ohm amp to push these.

Would it be worth the money to buy a 4ohm amp and LC80i's or will the TC or RC work?

    I just got some in wall buy Sonance and they were in the same price range as the Polks (did get discount on them). I will say I was more impressed with the inwalls then the celing mounts...but they are using the same tweeter/woofer.
    thing i liked about thier model...they had swivel tweeter with tweeter attenuation switch...

    I'd definatly go listen to a bunch of diff models...take some familiar jams with you and have fun.

    Hello,

    I have the TC80i in my ceiling, they sound great on movies but for music they are ok. Till frys had the RTi8 on sale I was happy with them. The TC80i's are about the same as RTi4. I hope your ceiling is not to high, I have 11' ceiling and that was one thing that made the speakers sound not so good on music.

    Here is how I rate the TC80i

    Moveis = RTi6
    Music = RTi4
    When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.
