Modding one of my XBox's

A friend of mine has a couple of modded xbox's and has been trying to talk me into doing mine. I am finally taking the plunge this week.

Getting my chip from http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/search.html .

But what really excites me is what i can do with the modded xbox. I currently have one of my friends mods. It is a blast to mess around with it. But what makes it so fantastic is the included software of xbox media center. http://www.xboxmediacenter.de/ This program is really incredible. You can listen to over 5000+ (yes that many) radio stations. You can view all the newest movie trailers. You can add all of your photo's from your digital camera to the hard drive. You can hook up to XLink kai for gaming fun (without ever logging into XBox Live)

The chip also makes your Xbox into a region free DVD player, with no need to buy the DVD remote control that all normal xbox users have to do in order to watch DVD's. There is so much more its mind boggling.

Oh yeah one other thing I found great. When playing different radio stations, I was able to listen to all of them in DD 5.1. I was really shocked at the clarity, and how incredibly well it sounded.

Glad to see there are people out there dedicated to this type of thing. Looking forward to some more xbox fun.

Ok did not realize it was simulated, I was just noticing that my receiver was still processing it that way when I was listening to it. Still sounded better than my CPU speakers. And since we are out in the sticks a little bit, it is hard to get good radio stations to come in.

As much as I am on my xbox, I know I will get good use out of it. :D

Thanks for the clarification on the music.

I'm interested in modding an Xbox for downloading new maps for Halo 2 and not dealing with Xbox Live.

Will an XBOX mod prevent you from using xbox live?

Well my friends and I are doing it a different way.

We are hard modding the box, AND adding a second hard drive by what some modders are calling the "marriage" theory. The second (married) hard drive (mines an 80 gb) can be turned on and off with a switch. And the original XBox hard drive has not been touched or altered.

So when I want to play Live, I switch on the original XB hard drive which in turn automatically turns off the second modded hard drive. Both of my friends have been on Live for over 3+ months...no ban yet.

There is rumor that MS can some how check the motherboard while on XBLive, and somehow check the pin points of where a mod chip goes. But everyone of those people that I have seen claim this has always had a modded box with a different HD. Not the original.

We also turned off auto sign on to XBLive and we also password protected Live. That way if a game trys to sign in we have to authorize it with a PW before it can sign on. So we are double covered.

Hopefully this works. But it looks good so far.:)
