I'm thinking on changing my yamaha rxv1400 to either Denon 2805 or Denon 3805 or Harman Kardon AVR630Z or HK7000. Any ideas. I have the following:

RTi10 for front
Ci1 for Center
Fx3 for surround
psw10
Onkyo M-282

Thanks.

First off, what is your motivation for the upgrade?

I want to minimize the brightness I get from the yamaha and I have read in most threads here that the Denon & HK do a better job on this than yamaha.

Denon > HK. Obviously the 3805 is going to be better than the 2805 but not by a whole lot. I went for the 3805. The thing I don't like about HK, they seem to be very warm but they don't have a very good top end. It seems to fade out/fall off a little early. The denon has a better full range sound, and has depth to it.

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

    Toxis,

Do you think the same is true as far as reliability is concerned. I more inclined to get 2805 because of the price compared to 3805 but will 2805 be able to drive my RTi10 without the need for the Onkyo M-282?

Personally speaking, seeing I sell all brands listed (onkyo, denon and HK), I would just spend the money on a 3805 and not waste your time with the onkyo 282. That amp is utterly worthless IMO. The only real application I can see it being used for would be to drive speakers for a multi-zone. To use it as your main room, I honestly feel the power of the 3805's main channels not only have more balls but definitely sound better than the 282. Even though I'm using my 3805 as a pre/pro, I still went with it for numerous reasons over 2805. Better processors (I've sat there at work and done A-B comparisons and the 3805 just sounds better), Denon Link (eventually, I wanna get a 3910 or 5900 dvd player), RS-232 (when I get my house next year, who knows what I'll want to run for whole house audio), looks (sorry but it does look sexier!) and remote (I hate the remotes that come with all other Denon's).
