How long will the current polk lineup last?
Ok. I know the Monitor series is new and will be around for another year or two before any updates are done. Seems like about every three years the RT speakers are updated with slight changes to the drivers and big changes to the cosmetics. Just wondering what some of your thought are on the next time the RTi's will go though a change. This latest was a definite improvement on looks. Don't know why they used oak and stained it cherry on the previous models. Real cherry looks so much better.
This may have been posted in another thread, but are the monitors replacing the R series floor standing speakers? CC used to carry the R's and RTi's, but now just the Monitor's. No one near me has the R's that I know of.
Next question, is it about time for the LSi's to be updated or a completely new high end speaker from Polk to appear?

Thanks for the update, Paul. I think the aesthetic change in the RTi line has made a tremendous difference. Today's speakers gotta more than simply sound good, they gotta look good, too. It's a major decision point, even for us fellas.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Not the answer I wanted to hear cause I'm looking for closeout deals on the RTi series. Currently have the R series in a HT setup but would like to upgrade to the RTi line at the right price.
I'll just have to live with my R series for a few more years. Not a bad thing either.

Or maybe you should just start saving your pennies so that you can move up in the chain that already exists.Originally posted by ivansfo

I personally like the look of the older RTi/ rtxxi line, and am considering a pair of floorstanders from those lines for my second system. Maybe the rt800i or rti70 might do the trick? what do you guys think?

the RT800i and RT55i's were some of the most popular from that line up. I still have my 800i's and are in use in my HT now.. several years after they stopped making em.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I also like the older RTi series, but I prefer the cherry stain on oak over the black stain on oak. Oak is a little cheaper than real cherry. I agree that if you really want to match other cherry furniture that the newer line using real cherry does look better. I just prefer the older look of the wood on the front, especially if you take off the speaker grills. But, hey, I just turned 50 and I'm probably a little stuck in the past.
My main complaint about the newer RTi line is how the feet stick out on the sides. I don't think they would pass the WAF (wife acceptance factor) either. They look a little bit like some kind of space pod that needed the little feet on the side to grip the moon's surface. But, they do look more "modern" more in line with what the rest of the A / V equipment looks like now.
I do love the looks of the LSi series, however. I just need to save up some money now and upgrade to them.Robert
