tryed the sub to sub but no joy,do i connect one sat to one sub and one sat to the other sub, any help would be appreciated
thanks

Hello Jack,
You'll first have to configure each bass unit as a single channel speaker. To do this you would first use a short piece of speaker wire to connect the right and left negative terminals on the bass unit. Then use another short piece of speaker wire to connect the right channel positive to the blue binding post (I'm hoping yours have a blue binding posts). Do this to both bass units, exactly the same way. Now you have configured the two bass units as a single channel units.
Now from your receiver's left channel output connect speaker wires to one of the bass unit's left positive and negative terminals. Then run a second pair of wires from the same left positive and negative terminals on the bass unit to one of the RM2000 satellites. This will complete the left channel.
Then connect another positive and negative speaker wires from the receiver's right speaker outputs to the second bass unit's left positive and negative terminals (the bass units are connected to the left positive and negative even though it would be the right channel's bass unit). Then just like the other channel, run another set of wires from the left positive and negative terminals of the bass unit to the remaining RM2000 satellite.
I hope this is fairly easy to follow.

hi ken thanks for your reply it was greatly appreciated, however I need just a little bit more advice
is this the best method of connection or if I was connecting the subs to each speaker individually, and having each speaker with its own sub, put out a better sound
question 2
I am thinking of replacing my amp and the one I have looked at is 6ohms ---- is this ok with these speakers as i believe the speakers are 8ohms.
any advice would be greatly appreciated and i wait with enthusiasm

Hello Jack,
The connection method I outlined would result in one bass unit connected to one satellite and the other bass unit connected to the other satellite. So, there really isn't another way, you'll have a right bass unit connected to a right satellite. And a left bass unit connected to a left channel satellite.
Receivers and amplifiers are fine with speaker impedances from 4 Ohms to 16 Ohms. The output transistors have a very low output impedance, usually a fraction of an Ohm. So, they have no problem being connected to a wide variety of impedance loads. It is only when the receiver/amplifier is being used close to it's maximum output capability that lower impedance loads can cause a problem. With a lower impedance load the amplifier has to produce higher levels of current, which cause a rise in the output transistor's temperature and could cause a protection circuit to activate.
You shouldn't have any problems.
Take care, Ken -
Hi Ken thanks again this internet is magic dont know what i would have done with out it will take your advice on board and agin it was greatly appreciated

The RM3000 was the first Polk I ever bought. For the price paid, it was a great investment. At the present time, I have my RM1000 passive connected in line with a set of RTi-28's...sounds very nice.
So far I have the following:
RM3000
Monitor 10
RT35i
RT600i
RTi28
M3
CSi5
CS150
Very happy with my Polk's!
Edited to add 2 more Polk's I own! -
THANKS FOR THE INFO
I LIKE KEN'S IDEA BUT THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THE SPEAKERS WIRES ARE ALL FITTED INTO THE WALLS AND UNDER THE HARDWOOD FLOORS SO CONNECTING ONE SUB TO THE OTHER IS AUkWARD.THATS HOW I WAS WONDERING IF THE SATS COULD TAKE A SEPERATE SUB EACH AS I HAVE WIRED THE SATS DOWN THE WALLS AND PLACED AUDIO SOCKETS INTO THE WALLS FOR TIDINESS,WITH A SUB AT EACH CORNER OF THE ROOM.
WOULD HATE TO HAVE WIRES RUNNING ACROSS THE ROOM AGAIN
i HAVE WIRED EACH SUB INDIVIDUALLY TO EACH SAT AND IT SOUNDS OK, BUT WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT THEY WERE OUT OF SINCRONISATION WITH EACH OTHER,BUT UP UNTIL NOW I CANT TELL AS THE BASS IS PUMPING ALONG BASICALLY INTIME.
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
MY SPEAKERS ARE 12 YEARS OLD AND WAS THINKING OF UPDATING THEN TO FLOOR STANDERS BUT THEY STILL SOUND SO GOOD WITH MUSIC AND SURROUND THAT i CHANGED MY MIND.
FRONT SPEAKERS RM3000 INTO SEPERATE SUBS
CENTRE CS100
REARS M3
CD MUSIC ALWAYS PLAYED IN STEREO
AMP IS AVF100 SETUP FROM DENON WITH POWERAMP AND DVD PLAYER AS THEY CAN BE PLACED UNDER THE TV AND THIS KEEPS THE WIFE HAPPY
WELL THANKS AGAIN FOR THE REPLYS GUYS ANY COMMENT HELPS TO GET IT RIGHT

Hey Jack...
If I am understanding Ken's reply above, he indicates that you CAN wire one sub to each of the satellites. If memory serves well, there is a crossover in each of the RM3000 units - The sub has it's own crossover, and the satellites have their own. This enables you to hook it up a myriad of ways.
Go ahead and connect a RM1000 sub to each channel's satellite. There wouldn't be any "syncronization" issues as you indicated.
Enjoy these little speakers!
PS...they seem to like a bit more power. They really started to open up when I connected them to a 2 channel amp...

M
