I can get one for $120. Is this a decent deal? It seems so on ebay. Anything I should look out for with the Adcoms? Thanks
Matthew

I'm not an Adcom expert, but that's a steal granted that it's in good condition...

well I am now the owner of that amp. Now the problem, I have nothing to hook it to since I'm using an Onkyp 601 with no preouts. Does this make me an addict? :) I'm thinking of setting up a small 2 channel setup.

Get a cd player with variable output that goes down to ZERO output. If it's only a two-channel system why buy a preamp if you don't need one (unless you're going to get into vinyl)? Plug the cd player into the power amp and have at it.

There's an awful lot of dog power amps out there that work just fine....and sonically aren't worth $1.20 no less $120.

The Adcom GFA-545 is NOT one of them.

Hey Faster, there's a fairly new Kenwood pre-amp/100wpc power amp combo up the road at the used shop for $125. Want me to get it for you and you can send me the money? Works just fine!

Well George with all due respect, I think your taking my comment alittle to literal.. :D

I mean, a guy asks if a well known, heavy duty(looking) amp is worth 120.00 seems like a no brainer, and while we are speaking of adcom type gear (in this thread) I meant as such... I guess i shoulda said, "any respectable/well known gear" such as adcom, carver and the like is worth 120 bucks even if in used shape...

Nah, i'll pass on the kenwood.... :) but thanks for asking..

No dude, with all due respect, with 3,700+ posts, you make a statement like "Any working amp for $120 is a steal" and some newbie might just think you know what you're talking about.

I see you've edited your completely erroneous statement to make it just a little more credible.

    Cheers,

I'm sure any amps you have are worth much more the positive side of $120.00 , but we were talking about adcom.... right? :)
