Hi,

Anyone know if the stablizer feet of the RTi8 can be removed? I currently have R50s and they fit snugly into a recessed space next to my TV.

I had a chance to compare the R50s and RTi8 today at Fry's and was amazed at the sound difference. Now I want to upgrade but the feet on the RTi8 would be too wide to fit in my setup.

thanks,

Ivan

problem is, the "legs" are needed. If you look at the front of the speaker, the little plastic part that has the Polk audio logo is longer than just the cabinet but with the "legs" on it, it's perfect. Not to mention, the feet help with sound.

Last I've heard, I was told they can be. If you want to double check, take em' off at fry's.

Just unscrew 'em. But as toxis mentioned, you're gonna have to replace them with some other kind of feet because of the front plastic part. The screws and rubber feet that came with the previous series (i.e., RTi70) might work, but call Polk and ask them.

Many thanks for all your comments. I visited the Fry's again and took a closer look. You guys are right that the plastic stabilizers can be removed but the front plastic piece will then hit the floor. I should be able to get around this by placing the speaker on top of a book or similar object.

Now off to find a good deal on the RTi8s! Part of me wish this didn't work so I don't go spending more money on upgrades. ;-)
