Tube Tales

My wife was playing music on my tube int. amp (Jolida 502) today. She said the far right power tube suddenly turned bright white and the amp cut itself off. Upon inspection, I noticed the fuse was blown, so I replaced it. Powered the amp back up and everything works fine. I expected the tube to be blown, but it wasn't. The only difference was that she was playing music a bit louder than usual, but I don't think that should make a diference. Is this typical behavior for tube gear or should I be concerned about a more systemic problem here?

That sounds out of the ordinary. I'd keep a close eye on it for awhile.

Oh wait, maybe she just saw the flash of the fuse when it blew. It can be quite spectacular if you are not expecting it. It shines out through the holes around the tubes. Probably just a random fuse blowing (which does happen).

Thanks, Max. Sounds about right to me. Glad I took your advice a couple of months ago and stocked up on fuses.
