XM prices going up??

I got a letter yesterday with XM's price increase of $3 per month to $12.99. Not a huge deal but annoying. Funny how such a small amount can make you re-think your plan. They offered a yearly plan of 1 to 5 years paid in advance to keep the price about the same. A little less than the current $9.99 but if you add the 3% or so you can get in interest for your money it still ends up to be about $9.50. Is anyone going with the multi-year plan? If so, how many years?

The wife just told me to signup for as many years as I would like just so we don't have the monthly charges for awhile.
I just slowly said OK if I have too.:D
I love XM, since I live out in the middle of Knowhere!

Personally Ive never cared for it. I prefer my own CD's. However when I was a long haul truck driver it would be invaluable. It sucks only being able to listen to a station for about an hour before you have to find another one. Not to mention driving thru Wyoming or Montana where they dont have ANY radio stations it seems!
I guess since their popularity is going up they can start raising prices. It wont be long before its up to "all these clear digital quality stations can be yours for ONLY $19.99 a month". :rolleyes:polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me....Sirius is contemplating raising their rates as a result of XM's price increase. They feel they have a superior product. They may not increase it of course, but they have publicly talked of it. Either way, they are thrilled with the XM rate hike. -
Madmax,
I will at least go for a year to keep the old rate, maybe two.

Two years looked to be the lowest overall cost. After that you just keep the service longer. The thing is I just hate to spend that much cash right now. Maybe I'll sell something else.
