different battery types have different tradeoffs,..

the most bulletproof phone i've had was an ericsson 1228 with a nicad battery. it was very picky about charging patterns, i think about 2-3 days on a charge (that wasn't bad years ago), but cold weather didn't bother it much. my wife had poor charging habits and that phone was murder for her. for me, it was fine.

the v400's lithium ion is not picky about charging habits, it mostly goes many days between charges for both of us, but, cold weather brings it to its knees. so, i'm the one with battery trouble with this phone.

for strong synchs, yeah. i don't know about technical stuff, but the v400 causes stronger interference on nearby electronics than any phone i've had or known of by far. but, i think i notice that since i've been cycling off and on (see above), that it's is not as strong as often. i'm still not 100% sure about this.

you can upgrade the battery on v400's too if you don't mind a new battery cover and the phone being a little larger. this would probably be good for folks that use the color display alot (internet, e-mail, camera, games...).

i doubt the v400 would be the phone of choice for rough service. though mine puts up with a good bit of living in tool pouches, dust, weather and drops, it feels delicate and i try to treat it that way.

I don't know what the best here is, and I won't judge my deciding on what battery a phone my use.

Well not sure about that as my boss was given a V551 or something about my V400 because she has Bluetooth. I have to check with Field techs to see what they are now being given.

    For the record.
I'm not a cell phone field tech, I'm a central office technician on the landline side of things.
