I recieved a rude and damanding email a few minutes ago from a buyer on ebay that won my auction for the CS245i.. claims that the speakers were completely destroyed. I'm like wtf?
The grill was completely broken at every knob used to attach the grill to tthe speaker, the actual speaker has cracks and scuff and the appearence of water damage too

What is the right thing to do at this point? Should I investigate to find out of buyer is trying to screw me first before i refund it or should I have UPS refund him?

BTW: TO have anything pierce through and damage the speakers as well I think the box should be pretty damn smash... the buyer did not answer any of my questions about the box and only describe the speakers. Water damage on the speakers would mean heavy water damage to the box and it will be 100% visible from the outside that the box as been soaked..... Anyone else smelling fish around here?

Can you have him send you pics of the damage? Also, if it was damaged during shipping I'd make right with the buyer and then go after the shipping company for reimbursement.

Have him send the speaker back to you and upon receipt you refund his money (if the speaker is in the shape he described) and immediately file a claim with UPS

doesn't UPS pick it up and do their on investigation for the parts? I've already requested for pictures of everything even the empty box. I used oversize bubble wraps as well as fill the box up with the air bags. The speakers couldn't even shack around. I don't see how it can be damage that bad. This guy is demanding for his money back like "RIGHT NOW" in every email I have a feeling he's trying to pull a quick one.

Sounds like he is. Just tell him with no proof of the damage, no refund.

UPS just delivered a computer case to me today that was damaged. I called them and they are picking it up. Did you have insurance on the shipment?

Smells like rotted fish if you ask me, and if it was packed like you say it is... then I REALLY smell some raw stench. Sounds like they guy wants his cake and to eat it too. Ignorant Bastage! Hope you get it worked out my man.

from the time of my last response till now, I have not hear a thing from him since I asked for all those pictures and told him to verify water stains on the box. I bet he's now waiting for the water (that he splash on) to dry before he takes the picture of the box. THe fawked up thing is that this guy has good ratings too.

Ask for pictures, and tell him to keep everything, box, packing material - all of it.

File a claim with UPS, and good luck. Fortunately a CS245 shouldn't have been TOO much money exchanged, so UPS MAY just cut a check without inspection.

    Cheers,

Good luck dealing with UPS. They'll no doubt claim it wasn't packed well enough to withstand piercing and water...things you should have thought of.

I think the buyer is a big smelly rat. Sounds like he won't send you any pics and isn't willing to follow thru with the claim. I had one of those people too. It sucks man. I know. But they usually go away fairly fast once they can't prove that there was damage during shipping.

No pics, no claim, = no refund.

Don't send him a penny till you get your center back in hand. If that's what he wants.

yah, it's been a whole day and he didn't even contact me or send me any picture. Didn't say anything about not having a digital camera what so ever. If I needed to file I claim I'd get all the info ASAP but this guy sent 2 or 3 quick emails demanding for money but no action to claim or anything. These are the dumb asses that gives you negative feedbacks just for fun.

I had a buyer that cried foul once and I told him I'd be more than willing to refund money as soon as I was sent digital pictures so I could file a claim.

Surprisingly I never heard from him again......screw the lil **** if he's not willing to go by the rules.

I sold a Sony receiver once and the guy bitched back saying only the right channel worked and he wanted a refund, blah, blah, blah. I told him to check the balance knob on the face of the unit. Never did hear back from the guy.

Even if he doesn't have a digital camera, he can buy one of the disposable ones and then send you the picture once they are developed. Every time I have had a problem with a seller, I've emailed pictures as soon as possible to make sure I get my $$ back. If he wants to send the speaker back to you, then make him pay for it.

If it really was damaged, then he will do his part to make sure he gets his money back.

    what are you buying? lolz

just recieved another response from him after I deny is refund until further evidence and investigation is made.
Well you implying that i am lying does not make me very happy, but i will find a way to get some pics and then i will expect immediate refund payment. I was willing to be patient, but now i feel your lack of consideration for my situation allows me the right to request my refund as soon as the pics are issued. I am an experienced seller and buyer and i have had problems with shipping company's before. ANd your box did have damage and your package was not delivered in mint condition. And checking with my attourney and ebay policy once you get your evidence you will need to have your company pick up the item and then refund my money and then you get your money from the shipping company. The customer does not bear the burden of the shipping company's damage the seller does and if you cannot reside by these terms then you are invovled in a legal matter. I am not trying to be a dick i am just letting you know the policy's.

haha I know, I told him to go get his attorney and have him talk to me. pointed out the fact that I'm a Sr. National sales rep for a 40 million dollar electronic distributor and i know what is good customer service and business practice is. Told him to screw himself again and that he won't see a penny until I get evidence and do further investigation.

    His name is Dick right?

Here is my 2 cents from nearly 200 transactions with EB. If you think you smell a fish, it probably is real. Legit EB people are straight-up friendly smile.gif or stupid confused.gif

    USPS = 100% okay.
FedEx = 1 damaged delivery, they cut me a check within 3 weeks for full insured value.
OOPS = 2 damaged deliveries. One seller sent a replacement. The other cut me a check for the damage claim for repair. I sent him a dozen close-ups of the damage.

    1) Don't threaten the buyer, EB can suspend or terminate you for that.

    2) Tell him to save the box.

    3) Call Oops and file a claim (i think you have 21 days). If Oops hasn't requested an inspection (pickup of the damaged delivery) within 5 days of your filing, they will process the claim. Flip a coin.

There is no instant refund required by sellers, you've got 90 days from the auction date.

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/isgw-buyer-protection-steps.html
    http:// pages.ebay.com/help/tp/isgw-buyer-protection-steps.html

Step 6 is a joke. PP won't pay for damaged items that were insured.

Step 8 where they say to contact your credit card company is also a loop-hole. Some do not cover buying used items. Others will however cover cheap items usually under $20, over that they will open an investigation. Flip a coin.

If worse comes to worse, tell him to ship it back but you won't refund shipping.
