Man, I'm so happy. I've been searching since the summer and finally got a new job.

I just had my interview at Future Shop (Canada's equivalent to Circuit City). They sell Polk too. On Mon I'll be a sales associate for home theatre. Gonna get me a big screen with employee discount:D .

I want to thank NCrewman for the tip on getting into FS.

I'm so juiced!

C'mon guys. It beats the hell out of working in a busy restaurant with crappy pay.

Besides, I've always wanted to sell HT stuff.

Thats great news. Plus now I have 3 months till your employee purchase plan kicks in to compile a list of things I would like to buy at staff price. Oh, yeah ....... just for fun when you learn how to check costs on the computer, check out the mark-up on audio gear, especially the monster cable. You might faint.

    Congratulations

    Hey commission guys,
What are the standard commissions for electronics at your average store? Do they vary between products? For example is the commission from a tv and a reciever different? Always wondered and would like to know just how thankful my local sales guy should be:D

Congrats. Be thankful you dont have my job.

10-12 hours a day, 5 days a week humping heavy **** cases of beer. Taking crap off of walnut brained store managers that have nothing better to do than kick you around.

Id love to have a retail job. No heavy lifting. Indoors. Wonderful! ;)

RS is still commission, depending on your level of employment, it could be anywhere from 5%-7% on bigger stuff, low profit, or 7%-like 8 or 9% on smaller, more profitable items. Plus the spiffs and crap.

    Thanks guys,
I can't wait to start my training on Mon.

    Mike,
Big screen with tubes, CRT (Cathode Ray Tube):D. But I might go for a cheap projector. I've always wanted one of those.

    Steve,
Yup, you remembered my "need to blow off some steam" post:). I got a lot of help from you guys there. Thanks.

    Cathy,
Thanks. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I checked out the sound room and saw a pair of RTi12. Gonna have some fun with them:).

    NC,
Make that big list and PM them to me in 3 months;).

    Polkatese,
I'm actually very nervous about the video part of the job. I know a lot about audio but very little about video. Good thing my friend gave me a copy of Sound & Vision with a guide to all the different types of HDTV's. LCD, DLP, etc. Read it once already. I think I'm understanding the stuff now.

    Cubdog,
Don't know how much cool stuff I'll be getting but the big screen or projector is first on my list:).

    Opus,
I didn't ask what the commission rate is. However, he did tell me that the pay is not purely commission. It's base pay PLUS commission. The base pay is much higher than I expected.

    MacLeod,
At my current job, I have to put away a lot of beer in the storage room (restaurant) when the beer guys deliver the goods. I'd rather do the beer thing than what I'm doing right now.

    Sean,
The store manager discussed the pay. It's commission plus base pay. I don't know how many % the commission is though but hell, the base pay alone is way more than what I'm making right now.
