Crooked Fingers (AKA - Eric Bachman) is a friend that I met many years ago at a gig here in town and I have been enamored by the music he's made ever since. He's actually released several albums, but as nearly everything I post about musically around here, is still well under the radar.

His new album, Dignity & Shame, does not disappoint. Many people with whom I have shared his music with haven't always been swayed by his voice. I must say with my critical musical ear that his voice is amazing from a sheer musical standpoint. It's very deep and that's where some people fall off the train, but that just adds to the overall flavor of his soulful and heartfelt lyrics in my humble opinion. If there's one thing to be said it's that I feel an incredible connection to his music from the lyrical sense. A lot of it is quite sad, but I can so often relate to what he has to say. Quite simply put this guy is an amazing musician and I will do all I can to spread the word of his glory. I have taken it upon myself to upload (and transcribe as best as possible) one of my favorite songs off Dignity & Shame for your listening pleasuse. Comments would be appreciated. (Oh...and how awesome does Lara sound on this track? She and Sara Shannon were an amazing addition to this album). Hopefully if he's doing a gig in your town you'll go have a beer and check him out.

Crooked Fingers - Call To Love

(I'll leave this link up for a day or two because of bandwith constraints. If anyone wants it after that they can IM me @ Introscape.

"(Eric Bachman)
Those fancy things your new boy bought you for
won't save a jaded girl like you
So I must question what you take me for
I know for him your love's not true
So while, while you lay with that joker tonight, my friend
And his love just ain't doin' you right, again won't you -- hear my heart,
I'm transmitting a call to love

(Lara Meyerratken)
It's true I heard a birdy say your name,
but I'm a straight talk woman got no time for games
Don't need my heart kicked 'round the block no more
You may be smooth talkin' daddy, but I heard it all before
So I don't care if you're making that sound.
No heart receives love when it's broken down
So how am I supposed to hear or take heed to this call to love?

(Eric Bachman & Lara Meyerratken)
I found a hundred different ways to say that I am not in love with you
or maybe more if I was sure, but I'd be lying not to be your fool.
So come on -- Love is a fine thing to take a chance on
Send it back before the signal is gone
Oh wont you call to me Won't you send me your call to love...."
