Hi:

Just bought a pair of Monitor 40s and a CS1 center (got a PSW10 for free...buying a new sub later). Going to buy a pair of Monitor 70s and then a new reciever.
Anyone have any opinions on what I should be looking at in a reciever for these speakers?
Was looking at a Yamaha HTR 5790 or RXV 1500 but people have been saying it might be to bright for the Monitors so I should look at Harmon Kardons or Onkyos. Keep in mind that I am looking at Recievers in the $700-$1000 range.
I also want at least 60W RMS (I know this might not be possible for the HKs in this prices range) for all chanels, at least 6.1 setup, all the DTS & Dolby ranges possible, and digital sound hookups for all the inputs if possible.
Current Setup:
Main: Monitor 60 (bi-amped on my amp using the extra rear conections for 7.1)
Rear: Monitor 40
Center: Monitor CS1
Sub: SVS 20-39PC+
DVD: Sony DVP-NC675P (use 5 disc to play cds)
TV: Panasonic 32" Tau
Reciever: Marantz SR7500

Denon 3805 can be had around $1000 online. IMO, nothing will touch it for the money.

Onkyo is to bright for me, HK isn't dynamic enough, and Yamaha is WAAAYYY to overprocessed. If I wasn't going to go Denon, I'd go Marantz and then maybe Onkyo. Just my $.02

Car Setup: OEM Radio, RF 360.2v2, Polk SR6500 quad amped off 4 Xtant 1.1 100w mono amps, Xtant 6.1 to run an eD 13av.2, all Stinger wiring and Raammat deadener.

Other receivers in that price range might include the NAD 743 or 753. Also, take a look at the Marantz 5500 or 7400.

These receivers will be good when the upgrade bug hits you and you want to go with new speakers and possibly an amplifier.

If you watch www.pcmall.com, www.ubid.com, and www.ecost.com, you can find refurbished Denons for good discounts from new ones.

Agreed. I like the NADs in that price range. Second best choice would be the Denon.

What about a Denon AVR2805? This is more in my price range and available near wear I live. I could buy used but I would prefer new (can go don't pay for 6 months with no interest)
