You guys that used to play D&D will get a kick out of this. At first I thought it was a joke, but it appears to be some serious religious propaganda.

Oh yeah, this is the real deal.

I was born and raised in church. Going every Sunday morning, Sunday night and most Wednesday nights. My mom was a Sunday school teacher, my grandpa was a preacher, my grandma was a Sunday school teacher so I was getting it from both barrells! D&D was believed to be straight from the devil. It was effin' stupid!!! D&D was a great game. I played it millions of times and never once felt the need to go sacrifice a lamb!

They tried to pull the same **** with martial arts. I was all into wanting to be a ninja back in my early teens and I cant count the times I was "witnessed" to for it. Martial Arts has a lot of spirituallity in its teachings like Zen and so forth and therefore must be straight from the devil!!

Anybody remember the "Masters of the Universe" toys? With He-man, Skeletor and so on? Well only God is the Master of the Universe so, you guessed it, STRAIGHT FROM THE DEVIL!!!

Religious people piss me off. Oooo, dont get me started on this!

    Holy ****.

Do you guys realize how close I came to being sucked into a life of witchcraft and demon worshiping!! I mean they even have examples of 11 people who supposedly committed murder or suicide due their involment in D&D.

Funny they didn't metion the millions killed in crusades in the name of religion. They make it sound like we are all weak minded sheep just waiting to be taken control of. Of course if they take control of us then we'll be alright:rolleyes:

    Pisses me off.

And yes, I was brought up in very religious household. My dad was even a missionary right up untill he left my mom.

D&D, AD&D and its siblings....Car Wars(Steve Jackson), Battletech, James Bond, Marvel Superheroes, etc....if it was fantasy roll playing....I was checking it out.

    insert joke here you f*cks

I recall when I FIRST played D&D, to this very day, as it was totally immersive at that time, and the DM was like a freaking ghost story teller....absolutely loved it. My step-brother Brad introduced me, and RIP you Goblin SOB!

I even painted lead figures as a hobby....yep, ALL geeked out. I still have alot of my figures, maybe I'll post a pic or two to show you how insane I was at age X.

That **** should be made into a movie....Road Warrior fans would eat that up!

I remember using Road & Track, Reviews and the "Graph" page for adding new vehicles to the game....man, what fun.

Now I really like you ;)

These were the best games ever, all we had was Atari for computer graphics so we actually had to use our own imagination, imagine that!

What the hell? Did they honestly think people started killing themselves and worshipping the devil because of D&D? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA Just another reason why I will never be religious. To damn ignorant to reality.

Well, now you're being ignorant to religion. Not everyone who's "religious" is a nutjob. I happen to be a Christian, but find nothing wrong with D&D, or really any computer game. Except maybe "F*ck Quest".... A rare gem indeed.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Blaming your kid's problems on board games and video games is a great cop out for parents who don't want to face reality.

Let us not forget all the innocent kids that were lulled into devil worshipping and human sacrifice by the Motley Crue and Ozzy Osborne albums.

You cant really blame religious people for being so judgemental. I mean when you dedicate yourself to a way that believes that anybody that doesnt believe as you and live as you then they are a dirty sinner and will burn in the lake of fire and blah blah blah.

Somebody posted this line on here a while back and is one of the most true staements ever! "People who want to share their religious views with you SELDOM want you to share yours with them."

exactly! People today just can't deal with the fact they don't know how to parent or are to scared to. "I don't want my kid to grow up hating me..." Shut the hell up, get out the belt, and start the whoopin's! Today's society is so f'ed up, I weap for the future. We just keep getting more and more **** by the year. Before long, you won't be able to even use a negative word around your child without thinking it's going to effect their poor mind forever. Hell, how many teachers already give better grades than kids deserve because they're to scared to hurt their self esteem.

Heh heh. I think I remember Vince Neil's response in Hit Parader way back then, it was something to the effect of "I don't get it, our song is 'Shout at the Devil', not 'Shout WITH the Devil."

Also in that same era, a preacher gave my cousin, who lived with my family at the time, a recorded sermon about how evil heavy metal was. "KISS stands for Kids In Satan's Service, AC/DC promotes bisexuality", and on and on..

Little Billy JUST MIGHT BE A SHMUCK, cause instead of cracking open a book (just once), he was playing.............................. his whole young life.

I could state a perfect example, using a respected member of this forum. I don't think he'd like to be reminded.

    Hey guys,

Promise me this; that if some Bose guys should get a hold of me after my mind is weakened by attending the Motley Crue concert I'm going to in April. One or more of you will find me and do an intervention. If that fails just put me out of my misery.

    PLEASE!!

I remember when Pokemon, Harry Potter, etc was considered things of the 'devil'...

And GTA, and Serious Sam, Half Life, all those types of games were corrupting our youth...

If so...I am a very corrupted person...

Oh yeah, I destroyed toys as a younger child...watch out.

Good idea but I think you might need something a little more powerfull then a Yamaha to bring down a building. Try chanting Adcom or Rotel or whatever other seperates deity you believe in.

Those booklets were in fact real. I remember them being distributed back in the early 1980s (I wish I had kept a few as collectibles). I remember finding some surreptitiously dropped in college lecture halls back in 1984. Chick Publications had a whole series of those 2-color "comic book" style booklets, ranting about just about any evil you can imagine. The extremes and scenarios portrayed in them were just insane.

The irony was that while they painted D&D and heavy metal music as satanic cults that brainwashed innocent minds, the booklets were the epitome of brainwashing at the other end of the spectrum.

    Nuts.
