8" Sub Decision

I am planning on installing 1 - 8" sub in a .35 sealed down firing box under the back seat of my F150 truck. The sub will be powered by an Alpine MRVF450 5 channel amp. Specs of the amp are:
14.4 volts - 50X4 and 200X1
12 volts - 40X4 and 150X1
I have heard and really want a Momo. I know this may be a stupid question but do I need a DVC or standard model?

Also - Does anyone have experience with this amp? Any opinions on it?

Thanks

Alpine V12 amps are one of my alltime favorite amps on the planet. If I could afford them, I would be using all V12's. They arent overly powerful but they are clean as a whislte and sound great. Excellent choice.

You can expect real world power to be 50x4 and 200x1 and maybe a little more. V12 amps are a little underrated.

As far as which sub to get, the MM2084 would be a perfect match for that amp.

Since youre going to be running a 4 ohm mono load out of that amp youll want to SVC model. The DVC model would only be used if you had and amp stable to 2 ohms mono which that Alpine is not.

That is a huge help - Thanks

Glad to hear the report on the amp.

What are the pros and cons of down firing vs up firing sub boxe? I was sent the attached pic as a refernce. I would have 2" of clearence from the top of the speaker to the bottom of the seat.

That would save me from adding legs to the box.

Downfiring would yield a little more output but sacrifice some clarity. It wont sound like **** but it wont sound as good as firing up, but it will be noticeably louder.

Try em both and see which you like best.

if you can, at all, do it sideways (regular mounting)... having tried subs all three ways, that's the one that usually sounds the best. now, momo subs have unusually stiff suspensions, and that's a big help for down- or up-firing, but it's generally a matter of taste and space.
