Hey polk folk,
I found a deal on a HK 330 demo unit to replace my sony 945. I've attempted to try and have the multi room speakers set up power my 150's to no avail. They work fine in 7.1 mode, but I can't get any sound while in multi room mode. I've followed the instruction booklet and have gone to the OSD field and changed the settings accordingly in the "multi room" and "advanced" settings. I have also set it to "on" using the "m-Room" buttom and still nothing. Being a demo, I did not receive anything to plug into the "multiroom audio ouput". Is that my problem, or am I missing something?

Thanks,
doubled

    Does your receiver have an amp section for the multi-room feature. Most multi-room receivers require and additional amp to power the extra set. Check your manual and see if you need that additional amp. ;)

    actually, these days, 7.1 receivers with multizone already will power the second zone by using the 6th and 7th channels of internal power.

    Sounds like everything is done right, but I'd contact HK.

    On my hk 630 there were two or three places in the osd

    speaker settings - I think you have to set that you have surround back/multi-room speakers

    Advanced - switch the surround back to multi room

    Multi room - set multi-room on and select an active input and turn up the volume for the second zone.

    Win7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70

    Thanks guys, I appreciate you taking the time to try and help. I've placed a call to Future shop where I purchased it, and they can't help. So I'll pose the qustion to Hk themselves. I've never posted a thread here before, but have been reading you guys for a couple of years now, and have been amazed of the knowledge on this forum. Keep up the great work, you guys have taught me a lot over the years.

    Rock on!!

    After upgrading from a bargain basement Sony AVR I ASSUMED that 4ES also needed an external amp for multi-room. After reading your reply Toxis, I actually checked my manual and I can use the unused amps for multi-room. Thanks Toxis:D

    In multizone you can't have 7.1 because you are using the surround back amp for the other zone. You stated that it worked in 7.1 it should be 5.1 with multizone.

    Hi devo220,
    Thanks for posting. I stated it worked in 7.1 just to show that there was power being sent out to those speakers. So when I switch from 7.1 to 5.1/multi room then I would expect the former back surround to to now receive multi room power.

    Just as an FYI, here is the response I received from HK;

    "Hello,
    Please note that Multiroom will only function if the source in connected
    VIA analog inputs. Therefore if the source is a DVD connected via an
    optical cable, you would also have to connect a set of RCA cables.

    Interesting... I've been selling HK for over a year and a half and never knew that. Thanks for the tip! I need to check out Onkyo and Denon to see if they're the same way.
