I posted earlier about having problems with one of the pairs of Rti-70's I have and took them in to CC for repair because of the 10yr extended warranty I had bought from them. Well after some extensive calling to Electrosound (where the speakers were sent by CC repair center) and CC corprate, one of the speakers was returned 2 1/2 months after calling and the other speaker that had been lost for over 4 months had been located and neither had been repaired. There excuse was Polk not having the needed repair parts. **** I called and Ken said they had over 200 of the drivers I needed and to have them send me the speaker back and he would send me the dirvers to put in myself. I told CC that and I recieved the speaker back as requested unrepaired and sent the bad ones to Polk for replacement. My problem now is the extended warranty I bought, that was STUPID!!!! and I'm canceling all the extended warranties and requested that my money be refunded (we'll see if they really do anything) and not to be pro-rated due to the fact that it was and is useless because of what happened.
Sorry I had to vent because CC is starting to SUCK in my book, it's just a shame that noone else carries the polk line anywhere in my area. I also came across a site where there seems to be a whole lot of CC complants (see link) seems as though some CC people watch as well ready to start swinging.

Man, Circuit City used to freaking rule, and not too long ago either.

I bought a Panasonic TV from em back in 01 and didnt like the color. I took it back thinking I was going to have to go thru all kinds of **** to get it returned. I had this whole story lined up and practiced but before I could get the first sentence out they were writing me up for a refund. No questions or problems.

Same with an Alpine amp I bought. It died 32 days after I bought it with no warranty. I took it back (policy is no exchanges or refunds after 30 days) and they exchanged it with no problem at all.

I know theyre having to compete with Best Buy but in what book does that mean they have to go from industry leading customer service to crap?

Im still pullin for em though.

That really sucks! Sorry to hear of your bad fortune. Atleast Ken and Polk came through for you.

I never buy extended warranties for any electronics EXCEPT the laptop I purchased from BB. A $100 for a 3 year warranty was worth it to me, especially being in IT i can see how this type of stuff can die out on you long before the 3 years are up.

As far as anything else, NOPE! Don't waste your money on extended warranties. A guy I knew from many years back that worked (maybe still does) for CC flat out told me in a private conversation to NEVER buy entended warranties on anything in CC because it's a sure bet that your product will not break down needing repairs. If it does, it's usually within the products own warranty period and it get repaired for free then. Extended warranties from CC, BB and other consumer places are ALL PROFIT for them!

Hammer away at those idiots to get your money back for that extended warranty. Polk's standard warranty is the only one you need.

I bought a head unit back in '03, and got the 2 year replacement plan. It's a no-questions-asked repair or replace plan. It expires in August, and I can only hope that I get to use it before it's up :). So far, the thing still works perfectly. Damn!
    Ludicrous gibs!

John.....the $100 is pretty cheap....how much was the laptop? you might want to check with your insurance company and see if they can add a "Personal Articles Policy" to your renters or homeowners insurance for the laptop. I have mine through State Farm and should anything ever happen to the thing (me trip and dump it in a pool and it fries), they'll replace it for free with a zero deductible. Many insurance companies offer these, and the additional policy to your standard owners policy is negligible, but the coverage is IMO much better than just a basic extended.

I don't offer extended warranties on Polk speakers. Instead, I tell them about the 5-year warranty from Polk that already comes with the speakers, and how great Polk customer service is.

However, we are required by CC law to offer the extended warranty with every applicable sale, so I'm not suprised it was offered to you. We get hassled by management to sell a certain quota of extended warranties. When we don't make our quota, we get to do "roll playing" or take computer-based courses to help us get "back on track".

However, I am the exception to the typical employee, I just work there part time for a little extra cash.

One thing that CC still has the upper hand with is the speaker trade-up program. You can upgrade a pair of speakers or a subwoofer within one year and get the full amount you paid for the original speakers toward the new speakers.

Yes. IMO they breached contract with you by not giving you the service you paid for. I would demand nothing less than the full amount of the ESP.

I hate those extended warranties.... Unfortunately I was at Best Buy making a purchase with my youngest daughter. At the last min. she asked me for help in selecting a gift for her boyfriend for their 1 year dating anniversary . We decided on the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 computer speakers and since I didn't have time to get them on-line it was off to BB. We get to the checkout and the sales lady starts with the "do you know about our...." spiel. I politely told her I wasn't interested and she continued anyway to which I angain stated very politely that I was not interested with absoulutely no effect. "Not an extended warranty", "total replacement", "trade-up", blah, blah, blah. I again told her that I was not interested and she proceeded to "school" me in the error of my ways. At this time I told her she was wasting my time an please just ring up the merchandise....to which she then turned to my daughter who was holding the cash in her hand and basically told her she needed to ignore what I was saying and purchase the plan "because speakers blow all the time you know...". It was all I could do to not go balistic and rip into this woman. Had it been my purchase I would have walked away leaving the speakers on the counter....but the next day was wonderous event and we had to have a gift. I considered a complaint letter to the manager...but I'm not sure it is even worth the effort. I know it's their job to sell the crap....but ONE decline shoud be enough and certainly 2, 3, 4, 5 times should convey that i'm not interested. This is the reason I rarely set foot in their stores.
